Also as soon as you drop your handgun into it and close it, you have made a SBR and now have an illegal weapon that carries serious felony charges without having a NFA Stamp.
Unless you get the one with the 16 inch barrel.
Come August those braces will also be considered a SBR according to the new ATF point system just FYI.
My cousin bought one for a Glock 22. Failure to Feed about every third or fourth round. I suspect it might need a stouter recoil spring. Could be it just needed more lube, I don’t know.
That’s a pretty good article. I use a Knox pistol box with a simplex lock bolted down to my nightstand for two pistols, one my pocket J-frame, the other a larger CCW/home defense double stack 9. The way I bolted it down they will have to carry out the entire night stand just to get one pistol.
Two people I know have the “biometric” safes that will pop open when anybody touches them. I mean, anybody, including strangers and small children. Also, the metal was thin, even if you bolted it down pretty good I could probably pry it open with a flat bar. I wouldn’t use one of those for anything. It’s like guns, your taurus is probably not as good as my Glock, and your Turkish made “tactical” shotgun is not as good as my Remington 870.
I have a couple of gang boxes, one holds ammo and a few guns as “overflow”. In the other I lock up all of my power tools when we go out of town, so that if a skilled burglar breaks into my house he isn’t using my tools to break into anything.
I have 2 Remington 870 police magnums. I have owned a total of 5, but sold 3, mostly to friends and family. I have them set up with the XS big dot sights, zeroed to federal flight control, and tru-ball slugs. I change pistols like I change underwear, but still have the first 870 Police Magnum I bought, and have run a few thousand shells through it. It was a police trade in. Sadly, the days of $200 police trade in shotguns are over.
I am seriously considering finding a small long gun safe to mount in my bedroom closet, but need to figure that out, and find a good way to mount a light on it. I believe that not having a light on a home defense gun is a terrible idea. Trying to score one of the old surefire models, then upgrading it a new head from Malkoff devices.
The biggest self-defense myth is that if you have a gun and carry it, you’re prepared.
You’re not. Self-defense is so much more than carrying a gun. Situational awareness, verbal judo/de-escalation skills, hand to hand skills, and even knowing when to run away are all parts of it. There’s also medical, route planning, and so much more. But because we’re gun people, we tend to focus on the tool. We should also focus on the soft skills that will do far more for you.
Your preparedness doesn’t stop when you stick a gun in your pants. It doesn’t stop when you walk off the range. The truth is, it never stops. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy life. What it does mean is that it might be time to make an honest assessment of your skills. Are you really prepared? Or do you just have a gun?
“The gun was in his waistband not holstered and loaded. The gun slipped down his leg, he attempted to grab it, and was somehow manipulating the weapon and discharged the firearm,” said Sgt. Akeem Turnbull with Lovejoy Police.
Never , ever, carry a handgun without a holster, fanny pack, chest carrier, etc. When I was working the street, this was a common occurrence. If you carry any type of striker fired handgun, that “safety equipped trigger” must be covered. Simply sticking a “striker” into your waistband or pocket is an accident waiting to happen, just as this article points out. If you are going to buy and carry a handgun, then don’t be a cheap shit and not buy a quality holster. A phrase I used to quote in training, if you carry a gun, you are carrying your own death with you. Secure that weapon.
The biggest problem I have with conducting in-service training is agents who believe they are better than they actually are. I know we all think that way in some form, but, that is why we train with more experienced instructors. Imagine if a black belt only trained with beginners? Would that black belt ever advance their skills? Same with shooting or any martial art. Don’t become a legend in your own mind.
