FINiBAR - Fuel for the Finish

This is a question for Laurie, but if any one else has experience with my situation or knowledge, don’t hesitate on the input.

Right now I’m using Beta-7, Flameout, and SURGE Recovery to help me with my training which consists of 70 miles of running a week. I’ll soon be bumping this up and expect to be in the 85 miles/week range for most of my college winter break. In addition to just running miles, I’ll do 2 running workouts (hills, repeats on a track, or structured runs) and lift twice a week.

My system is that I don’t eat 2 hours prior to my runs because of my sensitive stomach. Sometimes this leaves me without the adequate energy and nutrition I need directly prior to a run. I also have terrible trouble running in the morning right after waking up. No matter how much I try to get my body to adapt to getting up and going out the door, I always experience a “break down”

From your experience, how will FINiBAR help in these situations? [/quote]

If you respond like most of the athletes that have been using FINiBAR, it will definitely help.

I can’t answer the FINiBAR question because I have not taken it right before running. And I don’t distance run anyway.

However on the early morning problem, it’s possible I could add something.

I am NOT a morning person. At all, whatsoever. Let me make this clear: I despise the morning. Sunrise is an ungodly hour. Even the colors of everything outside are ghastly in the morning. I don’t know why this is, one would think the Sun is at an equivalent angle, except east not west, as near sunset, but the colors are totally different and as mentioned, ghastly.

The fact is my best sleep begins only after the sun rises.

However, there are three factors resulting in choosing to work out early in the morning anyway:

  1. Florida time being two hours earlier than Colorado time, if I am home by noon I am still available for what may be needed at Biotest. Training in the afternoon and thus being unavailable has not earned me praise in the past.

  2. The evening is out because I believe in the principle that high carb intake is better accommodated in the earlier part of the day; that the hours after the workout are best relatively high calories as well; and that being relatively high calorie late at night is not the way to go.

  3. One of my birds wakes me up at sunrise, wanting me to spend some time with her then take her and the other bird to their enclosed outside area. As she is a Moluccan cockatoo, the idea that I could sleep while she wants me to get up has no applicability.

So therefore I have to work out in the morning despite not being a morning person.

I do fine with it however because of Power Drive and Spike Shooter. Without those, though, I would be dragging, to say the least.

Just curious, but given the allergen warning on the product, would regular consumption of this product be likely to result in the development of a food intolerance?

Some of us went through periods of practically living off FINiBAR when they were in development and never developed any food intolerance, so I don’t believe you’d have an issue with one or two a day.

The reason for the warning is because some people are exceedingly allergic to peanuts and some other things, and traces may exist.

Not because the product is unusual in any way in that regard.

Actually if you look around you will see this warning on a lot of things.

Does Biotest plan to release any other FINiBAR flavors?

I’m hooked on peanut butter, but it would be nice to have a little variety as I eat 1 or 2 a day.

BTW, I’ve gotten noticeably leaner since I’ve started having a FINiBAR before training and I haven’t made any other changes to my diet.

Could FINiBAR be responsible for this?

Any feedback on this from those familiar with the product?

It could be that you have unconsciously made changes to your diet – in other words, consuming less total calories over the day than you previously were, without planning to or necessarily being aware of it.

I’ve used FINiBAR to on purpose allow consuming fewer calories. It winds up having more power to stave off hunger than one would think from its caloric content. The effect doesn’t last all day but say the 4 hour period from the time and including the time of eating the FINiBAR does allow me markedly fewer calories in that period than what would usually be the case, without hunger.

On the flavors: there is also chocolate.

Bill I believe you that chocolate exists, but it doesn’t appear to be in the store. Any insight from anyone?

I hadn’t realized that. It is what I use myself but I may be in error as to whether it is going to be available. There are of course pre-production runs of various variants and it could be that that is what I have. I’m sorry for the confusion generated – should have realized that if HK had said there was only peanut butter available, then regardless of my personal experience of what I use, that must be what is in fact the case.

This could be the case, but I tend to think not as even though I no longer keep a food log I’ve done this for long enough time to have a good handle on knowing my intake.

Good point.

I thought I noticed this as well, and I tend to think that Surge Workout Fuel has a similar effect in that I don’t get as hungry as I normally would during training with the same caloric intake. Lets me focus more on training, but doesn’t keep me from eating what I need after training.

Whatever it is, I’m leaner and fuller than I’ve probably ever been without following a much stricter diet.

You did a great job in formulating these products. I’ve made better progress in the past month or so than I had in the past year. And this is coming from someone who’s been training seriously for quite some time.

Thanks!

The credit goes entirely to others on the Workout Fuel and Finibar: I only wind up enjoying the benefits, myself!

Interesting. I’ll have to pick up a box for when my triathlon training gets more grueling.

FINiBAR has become my pre-workout nutrition.

I really like the PB flavor, but am curious if any new flavors are in the works.

Are you taking this along side Surge Workout Fuel? Or alone? I really really like Surge Workout Fuel and the FINiBAR looks very interesting.

Keeping the good stuff to yourself :frowning:

I use it along with Surge Workout Fuel most of the time.

I’ll have a bar about 30 minutes prior to training and then start sipping Surge Workout Fuel as I begin to warm-up, which is 10 to 15 minutes on average before my work sets.

I need to pay more attention since I missed that.

As a second line super supplement doesn’t this product deserves a longer article?

Man you guys are killing me!! I just bought two boxes last week at 40+ each. Now you dropped the price. I always have bad timing. Well at least I can start to share these with the wife. At the old price I treated these things like gold and there was no sharing involved.
