Today was one of those nutso days at the office. Beware, full moon approaching! Not bad, just a whole lot of frenetic energy. Got to do some innovative k-tape designing, very fun. Intensive trigger point therapy: stress + spring cleaning/gardening = wrecked patients. I didn’t leave the office until about 8:45 pm due to EVIL insurance company pre-cert paperwork :frowning:

The other highlights of my day included lunch at the newly-renovated Indian buffet near my office and going back to purchase the 35 lb kettlebell that I priced on Sunday. So in lieu of the gym, I played with my new toy in the garage.

Alternating: KB swings (overhead)/wide pushups (on the concrete garage floor… duh, I should get a mat) 10x10 each

Since I haven’t done KB swings on any regular basis, I fully expect my abs and upper back to be a little sore tomorrow. It was fun, I didn’t even put any music on… just focused on working my form and feeling my body react to the motion. Very nice little session. Feeling great.

It’s amazing how moving just a little bit differently really can leave you beat up. Hope you’re not too sore from the swings.

Although I could “feel” the stuff I did last night, I would not call it DOMS. Since Thur is my day off, I slept in and while I was catching up on the logs this morning when I got a call from my best friend. She is almost four months pregnant and was craving belgian waffles at 10 am, so I got up and met her at the diner. I ended up having coffee and blueberry blintzes with sour cream as my pre-training fuel. (Lol, I did take some real pre-training stuff too.) Happy to report another great session.

Legs/lower:

Warmup: wall squats, spiderman crawls… kinda rushed because I was pressed for time after the diner.

Squats: 1x5xbar, 1x5x115, 1x5x125, 1x5x145, 1x5x165, singles: 175, 175, 195, 195, 195

RDL: 5x5x205

Conditioning SS x 3: Kettlebell high-pull x 20 / DB suitcase DL x 5 each side; I used my 35 lb kettlebell and a 65 lb DB

I did the conditioning with as little rest as possible between supersets because, well, it is conditioning. Plus, I thought it was the least I could do after eating blintzes in the middle of the day for no reason other than pleasure and friendship.

Went for acupuncture which was beyond awesome. I totally love that experience. She treated me face down today. My ass must have looked like it could pick up AM/FM radio when she was done sticking me! Also, she placed a bunch of needles to treat a left lat/sub-scap thing that has been nagging when I do lateral raises. I went into dream land while I was laying there… I never really fall asleep, but I get seriously relaxed, can’t explain it. Left feeling balanced and ready to face the rush hour Jersey traffic!

As soon as the doc left the room, I started to play with the needles…mainly to try and push them in as deep as possible. I guess I was hoping for something like shiatsupuncture, and was a bit dissappointed the “light touch”…

I can’t remember the last time I was this impressed with any feat. Veggie, just wow on the self-Brazilian.

I’m a fan of the razor myself. I can’t handle the grow-in period required for the wax.

I tried waxing my chest once. I lasted one strip, then said fuck this. Thought I tore my nipple off.

Anybody done the Laser removal action? I keep seeing these deals like - bikini $75 first treatment. Wondering how many treatments it takes? I do hate to have a razor rash and I can’t see my armpits anymore. They need to be farther away from my face. Someday I’d like to get the full-body laser. Well, except for my scalp which is starting to need Rogaine.

mmm waffles. been a while since i had waffles. i used to wax. then discovered epilation. too much trouble down there with ingrown hair to make either worthwhile even with exfoliation. not a problem everywhere else, go figure. waxing does take a lot of mental toughness and flexibility. impressed, i am.

Yesterday was my rest day and I did a bunch of dog walking which was very pleasant due to unusually warm weather. Work was fun, I love my job. Went to the diner solo for an omelette and salad bar for dinner. They had banana bread on the salad bar, very delicious, yet unusual item to find there.

Had to work for a while today. No big deal. Bagged my usual session this afternoon in the interest of my bizarre relationship. Nice to see the man, but after he left I needed to expel some energy so I did a bunch of stuff with my KB. OH swings, one-arm swings, clean and press, high pulls. Tried TGU, but it is too heavy for that right now. No idea exactly how many of each I did. Just kept going until I felt like I was done, 30 mins give or take.

Felt good afterwards.

I used to wax my bikini line but it was messy and awkward. Eventually they must’ve changed the formula of the wax I was using because it stopped sticking properly. I switched to an epilator which is a lot easier. Still smarts a bit but you can’t have everything. No way can I shave down there - skin always rashes up (not a problem I have with my legs and underarms, thankfully).

Kettlebells are cool toys. I can’t do TGUs with mine - my smallest bell is 4kg more than the dumbell I currently use for them. I’ll work up to it.


I have to admit that I am having entirely too much fun with the KB.
