Ahhh you are my hero! Great work sweet thang~ that really is rockin’…
Cartwheels and front walkovers - fun!
I usually find my hunger really kicks in when I’m at work the day after a really good night in the gym or at karate. I need to remind myself to pack a bigger lunch or all I can think about is food!
I don’t even know what front walkovers are, but I’m glad you had fun!
HAHA! I love that story about the 70lb Dbs. Hilarious!! I’m sure when you said no, you were’t about to press them, his balls protracted and he was able to breathe a sigh of relief. HA! one more man spared raises fist, we’ll get you next time
Damn girl, your training is ridic! Well done.
I sleep like the dead - but maybe because my biggest meal is dinner…hm.

As a reward for being a relative angel this weekend and doing some good deeds in the family realm I went shopping today. New chucks, charcoal grey. Also, did some kettlebell pricing. Of course they weren’t marked, so I had to carry one up from the back of the store to the front counter for a price-check. When I was walking up an aisle, this outrageously obese sales guy actually asked me if I needed help carrying it! WTF! Why would I be buying it if I couldn’t carry it?! I didn’t think of the possibility that maybe he thought I was buying it for someone else, so of course I quipped back in my best tough bitch voice “Does it look like I need YOUR help?!!!” Whatever, I have issues.
Training tonight: chest/shoulders
Warmup: some bradfords w/bar, some shoulder dislocates w/resistance tubing
BP: 1x5xbar, 1x5x85, 1x5x90, 1x5x95, 1x5x100, 3x2x105
DB 1-arm BP: 1x10x35, 2x8x40, each arm
DB decline press: 2x10x35’s, 1x8x40’s
Standing 1-arm MP: 3x8x30, each arm
Upright row (ez bar): 1x10x63, 2x10x68
Carries: Waiters’ walk 40x~250 feet each arm, Cross-carry 35’s x ~250 feet each side (I refrained from doing a bunch after last week’s MB/LB issues; I want to be able to kill my squat/DL session tomorrow night.)
Mixed delt raise, standing: 3x10x20’s
CG pullups, bw: 6, 4, 4
Super wide pushups: 2x15
Stretching, bridges, etc.
Now for the best part! Drumroll… It was about 20 mins until the gym closed and I found myself alone on the mats! Did some cartwheels, singles, doubles- a bunch. Feeling good, limber and brave. So I gave the front walkovers a go. First 4- miss, fell on my ass. NAILED the last 2! Hell yeah. Given my occupation, I am in awe of the human body and in particular, the nervous system. Everyday I see and do things that remind me of how awesome we are. But, the experience of doing those walkovers really hammered it home tonight. As soon as I started to focus on doing them and initiated the motion there was a flood of thoughts and cues and stuff running through my head. It was like being transported back to when I was 5 years old. No lie. It blows me away! I was super happy to have pulled them off, but then I got to thinking about the stuff that I could do as a kid… way back when I used to do those babies on a balance beam!
Really great session, very happy with myself. Now I need to go eat some more so that I’m not up hunting around my fridge at 3 am :)[/quote]
I could just picture the associate’s face when you told him to fuck off. Priceless. I’ll be glad when I have more room to work on the floor exercises. Too many people here, especially now that EVERY-FUCKING-BODY wants to try to get in shape before redeploying!
Awesome work, as usual. Always a pleasure to read your stuff.
Nice job on the tumbling! I had to take a class about movement and gymnastics for school. We did partner stuff, traditional floor exercises, and used some of the equipment. It was SO HARD. I did some of the basic stuff as a kid, but it still took some work to remind my body how to do it again. It turned out to be really fun though.
Hey Gawgeous, I’m so happy you had a great session, your enthusiasm oozes from my post and you should definetely get back into gymnastics. And I will live vicariously through you.
Aww sweetie, if you have issues, then I’m a shrink’s dream. One of my tats is actually a disclaimer of my attitude.
Can’t say I didn’t warn 'em =D
the human body IS amazing :D!!! its way cool when you get glimpses of how freaking awesome our design is!!
front walk over are difficult-- i can do back walk overs but not front:{
reading that made me smile!!–feel a burst of childlike energy and enthusiasm–zest for life:) Thanks!
I’m picturing you doing your gymnastic moves at the gym after that workout and reliving your childhood just a bit. Love it. Aren’t the endorphins great! Post-workout highs are really good stuff.
Wow! Thank you all. You bitches (+ Beast) are the best. And thanks for reading.
I had another great session tonight. Actually, pretty good day. Work was awesome, doing lots of rewarding k-tape and such. Headed over to the gym and was hit by the wall of commercial gym #1 idiocy, then I remembered that I said I was going to train at gym #2 this Monday. Probably wouldn’t have been much better.
Had to watch as, not one, but TWO guys were using the squat racks for curling. One was doing reverse curls, WTF? Why can’t they go use the preloaded ez bars? Whatever. By the time I finished my warm-up one guy was done and I practically leaped over the rail to secure my spot!
Legs
Warmup wall squats 3x10, spiderman crawls 3x10
FS: 1x5xbar, 1x5x95, 1x5x105, 1x5x115, 1x5x125, 1x5x135, 2x3x145, single 3x165
Rack pulls, starting just below the knee: 1x8x225, lowered the bar- 1x8x225, 2x6x245
Walking lunges: 3x6 (per leg) x 50’s love those fucking things
Did a couple sets of the BG version reverse hyper; I got really frustrated and was about to start cursing because I couldn’t get the friggin’ hyper bench to budge when I was trying to raise it. Then this woman who I always see training- hard core circuits, kettlebells, etc- came over to help me. Turns out that she is also a former gymnast, she actually asked me first. Cool. Saw her practicing handstands last night. We all would be drooling over hers!
Bagged my core work to go drink some very fine single-malt with my boss. You know, he really had to twist my arm! Bonus: He fed me. Life is good!
glad you got to have some fun playing on the mats. i’m so happy when i get to be the only one in the gym and i can do whatever i want mwah haha. our bodies really are amazing with their motor memories. i guess i had a similar thing for walking barefooted as a kid / in my vibrams.
sorry 'bout the gym douches.
walking lunges are the bomb…
I prefer doing em with a barbell… ![]()
I think the dbs are harder though, which can be good I guess. Probably helps with grip and balance more so.

Wasn’t sure where I saw her first mention these, but thanks to BG for this brilliant way to perform these! Did them last week and they were sweet.
Keep kickin ass in here, Veg!
Whoa! Woke up with serious adductor DOMS. Usually a sign that I was hitting depth + on the squats. I really love front squats. Better than squats. I know that is sort of silly, but they just feel better. And I like feeling like I’m able to destroy my entire leg in one exercise. I never get that same level of satisfaction from squats. Now, when it comes to general self-inflicted torture the DB walking lunges have it. But that is more along the lines instant-gratification torture. Sometimes I have to lay down in between sets because I always do them as a finisher and generally to failure. Love leg training.
Gonna try to rub my legs down with liniment after I take a shower, but it will be tricky to work around the k-tape on my left hammie.
If I’m still this sore tonight after I train I may have to hit my boss up for more single-malt and the use of his hot tub ![]()
^ OMG Yes!! I’m glad you say this because I also feel that front squats hit my legs a lot harder than back squats - even my hammies and glutes. Mind you, i was a parallel squatter back in the day, so I also assume I’m just hitting closer to ATG than I was before. But yeah. My new found love is the front squat, that’s for sure.
Killing it in here Veg! Your training is stellar! And I love all the positivity - keep it coming mama!!

Yup, I also think that I like FS because I squatted for years with a mantaray. They tend to cause increased quad recruitment IMO.
P.S. <3 that the guy in the pic is rocking a powder pink muscle shirt!
Yep I’m a huge fan of the FS for the same reason - thyey always leave me feeling very humbled and human the next day ![]()
Um I also hate you & your fine legs for “loving” the lunges - I’m working on it baby ![]()
I’ll have you know that you caused me glute/ham/low back soreness for the last three days. I saw your 185 RDL’s and was like “Hey, I’ll try that strength circuit business with RDL’s @185.” In hindsight probably not my smartest training decision. ![]()
As I was rushing to post my training late last night I forgot to mention this funny bit:
In between FS sets, one of the squat rack curlers (who was resting ridiculously long between his sets and watching me, you know, like THAT) complemented me and said “WOW. You have great ankle mobility!”
Has to be on the top 10 list for most hilarious gym pick-up lines!
