I competed for the first time this year in men’s physique and did reasonably well. I got 2nd in the NPC Branch Warren Classic in the masters division where I qualified for a national show to try to get my pro card and also got 3rd at the NPC Texas State Championships in the open C class.
My preparation was spot on but my peak week protocol was nothing special. I really didn’t do anything different than what I did during my preparation. I didn’t do any water or sodium manipulation or anything else. I know conditioning is the most important so you can look your best but I think I can do things differently.
Does anyone have a suggestion of a natural peak week protocol that can get me that “Saran Wrap” look? I know everyone is different but need to try something different for my next show.
By the way, this has been my 18 month transformation. I had 10+ years of some pretty hardcore lifting before I got fat and out of shape. Yes, I did this all naturally.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Great physique. In my opinion, anyone who would confidently suggest a certain peak week, depletion, carb loading strategy, etc. for you without knowing how your individual body responds to different manipulations is being silly. I’d suggest starting your next prep a few weeks earlier than you would have otherwise so that you can be ready a few weeks ahead of time…that way, you’d have a chance to do a “test run” or two, practicing filling out for your contest. You could take detailed notes on how your body reacts to any variables you tweak. Just my two cents!
Great advise. Thanks. [quote]pwolves17 wrote:

Awesome transformation very well done!
Great physique, your conditioning looked definitely tight enough for your class but bravo for looking to push it even further!
Try this…
prob wouldn’t hurt to ask John Meadows from a few pointers either
Awesome transformation! Looks great! Just out of curiosity have you ever had any spinal injuries or anything of that nature? In all your pics you seem to carry your right shoulder higher with a lean comparative to the rest.

Didn’t notice that until you pointed it out. Honestly, I think it’s actually a good look for your posing in physique…gives you kind of swagger or looks like an intentional stance, good for stage presence. I would’ve thought it was intentional if it wasn’t also apparent in your photos from the start of your transformation. So don’t worry about it at all!
Thanks guys good advise. Haven’t had any issues per se with my spine but definitely do have one shoulder that goes lower than the other. Haven’t been to a chiropractor to check but will go and let you know what he says.
