If you really think about it, that could be many games…
LOL @ the Prof X remark.
I too am at the part after you rescue the Princess from a certain ship. I actually took the oppoutunity to teleport back to Rabanastre. I am leveling up and doing mark-hunting and trying to upgrade my gear as best as I can.
It’s hard to get good gear for like five or six people in a game where gill is so limited and there is so much stuff you need to buy. Also, most of my doods are at like level 13, a couple are stuck at 11. I know that’s ridculously low. I’d like my guys to all be 13-15 and have a little better gear before I move on. Also, more marks need a-hunting.
I personally like the interchangability of the party-system. At any point, you can throw in Panelo or Baltheir or take out say Ashe or Vaan no problem. That’s why I think my guys need more balance and hence the difficulties. It’s pretty easy to tank three guys but in this game, you need a variety of arch-types.
Beat the game with: 3 characters at 55, 2 characters at 13, one at 15.
If they don’t level up automatically on the sides (like some games do in order to keep your party balanced, like FF7…) then I don’t ever use extra characters, so it made swapping characters in emergency’s a bit of a trouble.
At the final boss, I even had to learn a spell on the license board with a 13 character in order to resurrect a 55… that kind of change mid battle is just plain strange.

Not to mention that she’s an athlete and an Aggie too!
I’m looking forward to playing this but just can’t justify the purchase right now. I’m currently playing through Neverwinter Nights 2, a season of NHL 2007, and I’m having trouble putting Gears of War down. Combine that with having organize a cross country/ocean move back to College Station, and that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time. I figure that I might as well finish what I currently have before picking up something new.
Anyone play FF III on the DS and FF IV and V for the GBA?
I haven’t played any of the FF on the PS2, but have played through FF I&II on the GBA and enjoyed both.

If your an Aggie, which by the mention of College Station I am assuming you are, you know in CS there is a Pei Wei? I convinced this sandwich shop owner to put on of her sandwhich places in College Station by saying the shop would get better business being near big colleges, and they (Which Wich) are going to go next to Pei Wei in College Station, good shopping center, good stone. Anyways, I told her to go there because it has good visibility from the street and because its going to be near to where my apartment is, and its my favorite sandwhich shop so. Im basically being really selfish and making a sandwhich place move here with me. Theyll beat out your town’s crappy little Potbelly in a week.
Anyways, no more talk about me I want to talk about video games. I can understand why you cant put Gears of War down. I think Im on the last battle, its impossible. Im fighting this batty…monster. Bats eat me when I go into shady areas and I cant beat it. Then those things, always forget what they are called, the squiddy inky things in the sky I bust them up and then they keep coming back and shooting. Don always gets killed. I hate him hes always running into every situation and just dying because he is psychotic and cant get behind a boulder or soemthing and shoot, he just runs and shoots everything and dies for being a careless idiot and then I have to kill everyone myself and there is no diversion so… Have like…3 missiles flying at me at one point because of those BOOM aliens.
A-holes. Hate aliens. Makes my everyday struggles just That much more difficult to deal with.
Have it. beat it. game is good ending is so so

Yep, I’m an Aggie. Went for two years, decided that the Marine Corps would be more fun than school, and now 5 years later I’m going back to A&M.
That last battle is definitely tough. The krill are merciless. Dom is about useless in this battle, although sometimes you can revive him as a distraction for the krill. Best way I found to win was to hide behind cover in the light. I used grenades or the bow to hit RAAM with an explosion and make the krill leave him unshielded. of course you better be in the light or it’s game over. Than, I’d switch to the sniper rifle and pop him in the head. When he starts to get close, it’s a mad dash for cover and light far away from him. He goes down eventually. It’s kind of luck of the draw as to whether you get waxed by one of the flying aliens. If you just can’t beat him, you can start co-op from right there. Even the worst human plays better than the computer.

No you aren’t very far…you haven’t even gotten the first esper yet I assume???
Yeah I buy only one game a year, but FF is always a instant purchase. Really reminds me of Vagrant Story from about 3/4 yrs ago(the Active Battle) it’s nice not having to wait for loading everytime you battle…
Of course when you only get one game a year, you tend to play the living crap out of it…I make sure to complete every sidequest, level up the main charater to 99, get every ultimate weapon and retrieve every esper/aeon or whatever they call them now…
for example I haven’t even gone past Golomore Forest to Mt-Bur omisance and I’ve completed at least 14 mark hunts and Vaan is at level 35 and all the others are at 28(I rotate someone in every time one of them levels up)
Yeah I kinda wish the license sytem was more character specific but I can deal with it; I actually liked the sphere system of leveling up because there were way too many options and you could really craft the characters to specific and powerful crafts(OK the more I type the more gay for FF that I feel)
I started the whole FF thing when a buddy of mine got VII and I watched him play through quite a bit of it
I really liked the story line of VIII even if Squall was void of emotion and soul; and you had to love his final atk if you got his ultimate weapon(I hate malboros in this game)…my question is was ‘What’s his name’ his father??? Oh and the handheld video ending was really cool…
I thought 9 was cartoony but fun even though I can barely remeber the storyline
And I must really be gay because I definitly liked FFX and X-2 #1 the weapons in X were outstanding(there’s a wide selection in XII but nothing really stands out to me)
X-2 was great; I loved changing outfits(yep I’m a homer) but what really pissed me off was that I was trying to get the perfect ending and ended up with 99% completion(fu enix)
anyways I’ll always be a fan of FF; heres to FFXX and beyond…
So I just started this and it really is amazing, it looks awesome I love the detail.
I’m not using a guide or anything because I don’t like spoilers, so I’m wondering are there any items I should look out for as I go through the game? Mainly anything that I can permanently miss.
Use a guide, You can miss the best weapon in the game if you dont.
Oh and something about this, this is the third final fantasy I did not want to complete the xtras on.
Do you really need the best weapon though? I like how FFXII is more about tactics and planning than just having the biggest sword (penis?).
yes, tactics and knowledge are the key
but the more prepared you are (tactic and itemwise) the easier the boss fights become
just an example: was exploring the necrohol and somehow I stole the Maximillian armor from an Elvoret.
Instead of saving the game and having a powerful item I figured I was badass and went into a battle with a boss and got killed and lost the armor.
Now because my tactics were bad I lost out on an item; and since my items are more inferior now my tactics have to be more flawless…
now that I read this over it sounds stupid!!!
I’m really not trying to be a jerk, but you know what cracks me up about this game?
The name.
If it’s ‘Final Fantasy’ shouldn’t there only be one part? Why are there 12 parts of a game when it should just be 1 and only 1 part? Just curious.
I don’t play the game so I don’t know the story behind the game.
