Final Fantasy XII

Seriously. I know I wouldn’t…

On a slightly related note, I’ve had a PS2 and FF7 sitting at my house all semester, and I’ve had a gigantic urge to start playing. I’ve never played any of the FF games, but I have a feeling like my GPA wouldn’t appreciate it.

Man I hate video games. I refuse to play them, the main reason being that some games ARE so incredibly cool and I would end up getting way too into them. RPG’s are poison I tell you. Stay away!

I liked FF IX the most,

Agreed. I found the “medival” (sp)look so much more refreshing than the sci-fi, blade runner look.

Although, it’s nice to play FF 1 every now and again. It was so great, I’ve bought every one since.

The games being put out for PS rather than Nintendo is the reason I got the system in the first place.

played it non-stop for the last 3 days greatest game series ever invented. This game has made my decision on picking a console over the last 20 years. The only sole reason i am gonna get a ps3. In fact i would recommend any rpg made by enix they are all great buys but final fantasy does take the cake.

Can’t wait to play XII I’m hoping to get this for Christmas from my in-laws or at least my wife!

Best FF games in recent memory IMO
VII and X I didn’t care for VIII very much and IX was ok but I didn’t find the story as satisfying as VII.

VII is freaking awesome, I got the FFVII Advent Children DVD and that is one awesome movie!

Yeah, in exchange for you SOUL.

Suikoden II beat the bejeezus out of FF7.[/quote]

funny just cause I only recently sold Suikoden 1-5 and Tactics on ebay…otherwise I would have made you an offer

yeah good luck getting ahold of any of the early Suikodens…all amazing games(except 4) would have to say 3 was my favorite though

Ugh. hate my life. I was running to every gamestop in the city to find the one suikoden 2 that was being circulated and then
“oh, a guy bought it a few minutes ago-sorry about that-did you ask anyone to hold onto it for you?” uh, yeah. Everybody in the entire Universe-even the bjork.
Havent played 3 either.

Anyways, 4 was my favorite so…I think 5 was cool graphically and the story was ok but it seemed so…typical to me. music got on my nerves. I liked the twist with 4 but I was expecting it because one of the characters commented on it.
Yes, rpgs Are venomous…but its the good type…

Although FFVII was great, I thought VIII was unbeatable. Great story, great characters, great sound-track.

IX left me a little cold. It’s just something about being forced to include a fat, giant fork weilding clown that stopped me from taking it very seriously.

TYR, if you like the midevil look, go with ff6. It’s true old-school badass-ness. Where do you think Vivi comes from ? He’s naturally inspired by the original Black Mage (my favourite charecter type).

Julia: I dunno about the music. Some if it is cool; I like the music for the Espersands and the opening theme but as for some of the other stuff it’s well, meh.

As far as ff9 goes, it was better than ff8 and about on-par with ff7. I too like the midevil, whimsical look. However, Zidane and most of the charecters in ff9 sucked.

Vivi was awesome, though. Steiner and Freya were just…there. Garnett was Rinoa in pants. Zidane at least had a personality that wasn’t Hiro Yui/atypical anime ‘perfect soldier’ stereotype and he also was an emo bastard like Squall. Kuja distubed me and Beatrix was…also there.

As far as favourite FF charecters, in order: Vivi, Red XIII, Sephiroth, Selphie, Cloud and Zell. What about other people here ?

Oh yeah. FF X and X-2…sucked, period. I didn’t like it whatsoever. The storyline was crap, the sphere grid made me want to shoot someone…Blitzball ? No. At least the girls in the games are nice to look at in their animated perfection.

usually people dont agree when i say that ff9 was really good. i liked 7,9,10 (not x-2 that was bad) and now 12.

i feel like 12 is harder though.

FF6 was on “Anthologies” right? It was originally FF3 for the Super Nintendo?? I have FF5 but leant out 6 to a friend and never got it back. (only played it for about an hour total before lending it out).

Vivi was cool. I felt sorry for him so tried to make him the most powerful so I could destroy everything w/ him.

Never could get the timing right to skip that damn rope though…

I liked Quina the most, then Auron, Wakka reminded me of this Tongan guy I dated, he was from Tonga Island-a volleyball player-and was from the actual Tonga family, he even talked like Wakka, then Kuja, Yuffie, and now Ashe-though I hate her vest thing she wears, it makes her animated boobs look Really wierd. She needs a bra. Zell was also really cool and Red.

Really? Why?!
The gambits can be kinda annoying if you switch leaders a lot, and you can be attacked by like, seven monsters at once but…its not that much difficult i dont think

This Balthier guy is beyond cheesy though, I really dislike him. Like the sideburns but. Think him and Steiner are the only two that FF’s couldve done without, or at least not make them so annoyingly goofy.

Also, you said Garnet was just like Rinoa, well, if you keep looking through all the characters-youll see similarities like that throughout all of them…always the supposed “badass” boy whos meant to appeal to the majority of the buyers of FF, the girl thats unusually strong in battle yet always need him to guard her and is all lovey dovey about him (rinoa, aerith, garnet, Im thinking ashe is the newest)
gunslinger Irvine is like Balthier, the magic people, Wakka like Zell, Selphie is like Penelo which is like Rikku, Auron and Basch, but you know. There are the oddities in all of them and thats what makes each FF unique.

busy with Wii Zelda thx

Can we please have a thread where someone DOESN’T call Prof X out?

the boss battles are harder. i actually had to run around and level up for this game. oh and one of the temples (after mt bur-omesace) took me way too long to figure out.

Cant wait to get hold of FF XII. Anyone who is a FFVII fan needs to check out Advent Children and Last Order, great films. The scenes on the bikes in AC are some of the best action sequences I have seen in any film/game.
