I live in a fraternity house and therefore have access to kegs. However, I don’t know how to go about filling one up with water to use for strongman-style rugby training. The empty keg appears to be air tight. There also appears to be no way to open it.
The fitting is a ball-lock, and the inside is still pressurized. I don’t see any screws, bolts, clamps, or anything that might be removed to facilitate opening the thing, except the fitting itself. What do I do to crack my keg open?
if you know anyone with a subscription to undergroundstrengthcoach, check it out. they have pics and a description. make sure all the pressure is out. once the beer is empty, try the tap again, it should be depressurized. you have to more or less pry off top with a screwdriver to fill it.
if you cant get a hold of undergroundstrengthcoach, ill try to get you a better description.
Unless anyone on this forum has a subscription to undergroundstrengthcoach, I don’t know anyone who does. If you could get that description that would be great, and thanks for your help.
The most important part is making sure the “pressure” is completely gone before messing with any of the fitings (assuming you are trying to lossen/remove them). Even the smallest amount of pressure can turn a small metal part into a reasonably high=speed rocket.
Yup ALLL pressure out. Then simply remove the metal ring and the whole of the ball valve will come out. Use a srew driver etc or simply look when the local beer man delivers to the local liquor store be there waiting with the keg and borrow a tool. its very simple with the right equip. Might even just call and go to the distributor.Borrow one.
