Haha the can opener, i hate when bigger guys pull that one. i norm just try and swing my hips around and go for the armbar. In those cage pics is that bare knuckle or no striking?? cant see any gloves.

No striking to the face. We could hit open handed to the body and leg kicks, similar to pancrase

Luckily from that pic it looked like the guy didn’t really know how to do the can opener in it’s most effective form (although that is the version that most people do). Now, if the guy knew what he was doing and turned your head first (so that you chin hitting your chest did not limit the ROM of the technique) you may have had more trouble dealing with it.
Try that out next time you’re grappling and you’ll see how much more effective it is doing it that way.
As a Self defense instructor, I can give you and advice, use all of your training and… RUN LIKE HELL!!!
You just never know how a fight can end, so Why bother, if you can escape, just do it, how about if the other guy have a gun?, or if a friend of him have another?, or if he gets AIDS? In the street you must defend yourself and your belonged, so why take a risk of being hit or wounded?

I’d be more interested In hearing people opinions on fighting someone significantly(more then 30 pounds) heavier then you.
I fought super heavy weight for 2 yrs before making the cut down to 220lbs…It sux, anything above 220lbs in many organizations is an “Open division” Meaning that I could fight someone 50-200lbs heavier then me…I have video of me fighting a guy 3" taller then me and 70lbs heavier and I have another video of me fighting a guy 80lbs heavier and about my height…
It sux bad if you not used to it…shit even if your used to it it sucks bad, I won both of those fights with wrestling/judo/and jujitsu, I closed the distance IMMEDIATLY, Got the take down and with the 1st guy I took his back in the second round and got the tap and with the other guy I beat him in a little less then 2 min in the 1st round by pulling guard and spinning under his leg for a heal hook…Ill post some pics of me fighting bigger guys.
The above pic is of me choking the 6’4" 290lb monster in the 2nd round, at the time I was 240.
This next pic will give you some insite to how BIG he really was, you can see obviously that Im the “smaller” one at 6’1" and 240lbs

Yes but this thread is not about tall big guys fighting taller and even bigger guys, lol. Good job none the less.
to the OP:
In all seriousness don’t fight guys that are taller and bigger then you. For what? Unless your back is against the wall and you must defend yourself. Otherwise just bow out and screw it. Why bother fighting? Especially when tall guys are not into instigating fights with shorter smaller men. But the reverse is not always true.
Thats horse shit. I had some tall guy at a party try and pull some “dominate male” bullshit on me and walks right by me and turns his shoulder into me. Fucki obvious because he was a good 4 inches or more taller than me…im 5’9". So when i call him on it he jumps all in my face.
The fight busts out and the dumbass was actually kickin me in pretty good…he just made the mistake of thinkin i was down and turned his back on me…bad idea for him.
So dont say tall guys wont pick on shorter dudes. BTW though we probly weighed about the same. Im 205ish.
Get your concealed pistol license and practice practice practice. Don’t fight and always make sure you can win.
if someone is taller then you should probably move inside (maybe take a hit) and take him down.
but if it’s stand up, look for an opening get in, hit and get out.
My good buddy always wants to practice boxing with me. Hes one of those guys thats like 6’6" and skinny as hell with a reach like an ape…so he always gets alot of hits on me…but he has no power so when i heit him he says it hurts like hell. i guess being shorter and stocky has its pluses
