Hey all
Anyone have any experience here. I’ve been on Trt for roughly 2.5 years along with HCG. Protocol hasn’t really changed at all over the 2 years. We had no issues conceiving our first, prior to me being on test.
Brings me to today after sperm function test coming back, bad.
Should I stop cold turkey and continue with the HCG protocol and see what happens after. My original referring doc referred me back to my GP and he seems to think I should just stop both.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I would try FSH and continue with the TRT and HCG. If that’s not possible, stop TRT and go on clomid.
I would also find a better doctor.
Yes GP has no idea. Canada sucks unless you have a specialist which I was at.
I have access to Clomid, so take that along with HCG and stop TRT for now?
Cold turkey or tirade.
So I guess what I’m asking is
A- do I stop cold Turkey. Been on for roughly 2 years.
.3 cc Delatsryl (200MG/ML) twice weekly
And
.4 cc pregnyl 3 times weekly
10,000 IU bottle. 10ML
Side note I’ve always used the whole bottle of solution for reconstitute- now I’m questioning if I did it right.
B. Stop both T and HCG cold Turkey
C. Tirade down a bit then stop and continue
I have a urologist apt but not till may. No one will answer questions on the phone. Most recent labs attached.
Thanks all
You know I was on TRT for 2.5 years the first time around, stopped cold turkey and 4.5 weeks later my HPTA fired up and had high testosterone for a day, then right back to baseline the following day.
Your mileage may vary. I wouldn’t taper down, it’s nothing but needless suffering in my opinion.
If you have access to clomid and still have HCG, a good restart protocol would be:
- Restart protocol: HCG 300-400iu daily X 14 days, FOLLOWED by Clomid 25mg daily X 28 days (6 week cumulative regimen)
Thanks so much for the advice. Much appreciated. Can’t get Clomid in Canada I don’t think. But I will definitely look into it.
If you ever need a good TRT doctor in Canada, Dr. Lawrence D. Komer is in Burlington, Ontario
Dr. Adam Millar at Mount Sinai Hospital in Ontario. The former is at a private clinic cash only.
I was with Dr Komer
I’m with Dr. Kromer and he has me on the same protocol as you OP. I was on Pregnyl (HCG) and Delatestyl for a year and a half. I’m about to cut the T shots, continue the hcg for a month and then PCT with nolva for 6 - 8 weeks. Clomid was banned in Canada in 2017 and I have underlying eye issues.
I’m getting off for the same reason as you, fertility. My semen analysis gave me 12 million sperm per ml. I made the mistake of jumping on T so young (31) before I could start a family and ive been trying for a year now with no luck. My endo said I shouldn’t freeze my sperm as HCG will keep me fertile which in my case did not.
From what I’m reading, you jump back to what ever your Spermology baseline was within 3 to 6 months, rare times it can be up to 1 year to 2 years and extreme rare times it never comes back. I’m going to take another semen anylsis once im done my PCT. I’ll be back on TRT once im done having children.
It is not working. Your dose was adequate, more than enough. By far, most guys I see are pregnant at 2-6 months after adding hCG.
Doing a “restart” with hCG would likely be a waste of time. Two plus years of it, at a good dose, has not worked.
I would consult a fertility specialist. That could be a urologist, but not one that also treats bladder infections, kidney stones, etc. or an endocrinologist, but not one who also treats diabetes and hypothyroidism. You want someone who specializes in fertility and that is all they do.
Already in the works. At a fertility clinic currently, they referred me to this next person after looking at semen analysis. Told me stop the T as this is the issue. Apt is not until may 24, just wanted to see what i could do in the mean time.
I am turning 35 this year. So situation is almost identical. Did Komer say anything other than… you are a special case? Or are you back at your GP now as well.
what was your score SA score? I’m 31 turning 32 later this year. I’m also finding it incredibly hard to get a hold of Kromer, hasn’t said anything yet. I wish I froze a sample but he suggested against saying it was too extreme. I’ve got an appointment with my GP to see a urologist.
Not OP but in a similar situation. Wouldn’t dropping the testosterone improve sperm count though after 6 months as it’s likely the cause of the sperm suppression? From what I’ve read, sperm returns to baseline after stopping it (assuming there was no underlying issues)
Of course, I didn’t say not to do so.
This is my issue. Since hCG has a very good track record, and it did not work for him, I’d want to rule out other possibilities asap.
Yes. Fertility clinic said this should do it. No specific time frame. Easy for someone to say just stop and it should work, without them being in our shoes.
I have a referral as well to see a pp doctor.
They never gave me exact count, the lady doc just said basically you have none.
Looks like I’m going to stop it for now and see what happens. Want another child, so that’s the issue at hand atm.
Are they upping your HCG dose while going off test?
I am not with the TRT doc anymore and they won’t answer any questions. My GP is not versed in this and says he isn’t sure. Don’t really have a straight answer yet. Lol
I emailed Komers office in the hopes of a reply. But nothing.
