size 16 and beautiful
Marilyn Monroe reportedly weighed between 120 and 140lbs at about 5’5. She had a pretty extreme hourglass shape, but she was far from today’s plus sized 16, like every fat chick likes to claim.
true, but by today’s screwed up standards she would be considered at least plus size. the solid legs and butts the T-Nation women have don’t fit with todays ideals either. I mean look at the male models that are supposed to be a woman’s dream. do women really want “a six pack of diet soda and a couple of chicken wings” type of male body?
This is soo off topic, but the plus sized Marilyn thing annoys me almost as much as the fat = curvy thing (or the word toning) so I don’t care…
She wouldn’t be plus sized by everyday standards today. Her measurements were something like 35-22-35 according to her dressmaker. A size 16 for Lane Bryant is 42-36-44. Marilyn’s measurements are much closer to that of a bikini competitor than a plus sized woman…I’m a little bit shorter than her and although I do not have the same body type, my normal weight range is 125-145 and if I walked into Lane Bryant today, there wouldn’t be a single thing small enough for me to wear. And my measurements are even larger than hers.
At my biggest, I’m about a size 6/medium. And at 120, I had size zeros that were too big. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and they even vary store to store today, but at that size there is no way she’d be close to needing a US size 16 today.
Whose ideals are we talking about here? The ideal body for a fashion model is different from the one you’ll see in People Magazine’s “Hottest Beach Bodies” article (or whatever) and those celebrities with “perfect bodies” are going to look different from a Playboy model or “hot” male athlete. I agree that the typical “perfect bodies” presented in the media are too skinny for my taste, and clothes are absolutely not designed for women that can squat (let alone bench) their body weight, but I don’t think many normal people would say a woman with Marilyn Monroe’s measurements was too fat to be attractive. She may be “Hollywood plus size” (larger than a 00) but she’s hardly the size of an actual plus sized woman today.
And I’ll refrain from commenting on what women consider the ideal male physique…my ideal female physique would most likely be considered “too manly” by a majority of the people on this board so you can only imagine what I think about “hot guys” like David Beckham.
I agree with you 100%. And I think what we consider attractive in women falls very closely to the same ideals lol.
Cindy Phillips FTW.
Always been a fan of her. Her ass and legs… Amazing. And she wouldn’t feel like I was breaking her.
