Marilyn Monroe reportedly weighed between 120 and 140lbs at about 5’5. She had a pretty extreme hourglass shape, but she was far from today’s plus sized 16, like every fat chick likes to claim.

Is this a relationship or just college ‘dating’/hooking up?
Would you say you have great connection with her or just a good time?
Started off as hook up…we have a great connection when she’s not intoxicated

A relationship is an investment. If you don’t see this going anywhere with her, then drop her. College is not the time to be emotionally tied down to anyone: college is the time for figuring your shit out and getting a lot of pussy in the process, so that when you DO figure your shit out, you know what your looking for in women.

On the other hand, if she is a genuinely good person, and you could see this going somewhere, invest the time and effort into making it work. I’ve seen a ton of relationships where one partner doesn’t start out looking all that good, but as time progresses, they start looking better and better until you think WTF when did she get so hawwt? That’s just the way it works, man. I pretty much agree with Orion on this one.

PS. Fuck your friends. At the end of the day, a friend that’s going to make fun of your girlfriend isn’t one worth keeping. Trust me, some of the guys you’re tight with now are going to seem like worthless pieces of shit in a year, and you’ll have stopped talking to them all together. Don’t take their shit too seriously.

true, but by today’s screwed up standards she would be considered at least plus size. the solid legs and butts the T-Nation women have don’t fit with todays ideals either. I mean look at the male models that are supposed to be a woman’s dream. do women really want “a six pack of diet soda and a couple of chicken wings” type of male body?

Honestly, if you are attracted to a chick that you click with emotionally and the sole hang up with your relationship is you being worried about what your friends think, then you probably aren’t ready for a relationship because that shows some huge insecurities.

Dudes that have that I need a hot chick on my arm to show people how cool I am are lacking some serious self confidence usually. I disagree with Varq and Cap, you need to change yourself before you worry about trying to change her. Especially if the reason you are trying to change her is to impress your friends.
Disagree with you all. Do wealthy, driven, good looking, successful, charming men date chubby unattractive women? Hell no.

Despite what the “holyier then though” crowd will say…I’ll be honest with you. My wife gained some weight after my 2 kids. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. There are hourglass girls who get called fatties AND there are obese gals who describe themselves as ‘with curves’. Both is bullshit.

This is soo off topic, but the plus sized Marilyn thing annoys me almost as much as the fat = curvy thing (or the word toning) so I don’t care…

She wouldn’t be plus sized by everyday standards today. Her measurements were something like 35-22-35 according to her dressmaker. A size 16 for Lane Bryant is 42-36-44. Marilyn’s measurements are much closer to that of a bikini competitor than a plus sized woman…I’m a little bit shorter than her and although I do not have the same body type, my normal weight range is 125-145 and if I walked into Lane Bryant today, there wouldn’t be a single thing small enough for me to wear. And my measurements are even larger than hers.

At my biggest, I’m about a size 6/medium. And at 120, I had size zeros that were too big. Clothing sizes have changed over the years and they even vary store to store today, but at that size there is no way she’d be close to needing a US size 16 today.

Whose ideals are we talking about here? The ideal body for a fashion model is different from the one you’ll see in People Magazine’s “Hottest Beach Bodies” article (or whatever) and those celebrities with “perfect bodies” are going to look different from a Playboy model or “hot” male athlete. I agree that the typical “perfect bodies” presented in the media are too skinny for my taste, and clothes are absolutely not designed for women that can squat (let alone bench) their body weight, but I don’t think many normal people would say a woman with Marilyn Monroe’s measurements was too fat to be attractive. She may be “Hollywood plus size” (larger than a 00) but she’s hardly the size of an actual plus sized woman today.

And I’ll refrain from commenting on what women consider the ideal male physique…my ideal female physique would most likely be considered “too manly” by a majority of the people on this board so you can only imagine what I think about “hot guys” like David Beckham.

People in general seem to have super messed up views of what woman (maybe all humans?) should look like. This girl I have an incredible schoolboy crush on is absolutely ripped to shreds everywhere for being too fat, having poor shape, etc. Ridiculous…

Cute face, nice rack, nothing else. That is why she gets ripped to shreds. As a weight lifter I see a project rather than a masterpiece.

This is a very good point. Hot chicks have way more options than guys have. If she loses some bodyfat and gets some muscle, you’re in trouble, hobbs. You won’t have to worry about whether or not to date her because she’ll be gone.

This is the biggest hang up I have with this. I also agree with many here that you have to be attracted to someone for things to work out. He all but said that not being attracted wasn’t the problem. It’s his friends giving him crap about being attracted to her that he’s worried about. That makes it more of an issue with him than with her.

And to the Marilyn Monroe thing. Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn’t Marilyn be like a size 6 or 8 by todays sizes as compared to when she was a 16? I know that my wife complains every time we go shopping because she was always a 6 but she cant order things because some 6’s are huge because so many places practice vanity sizing now that the numbers really mean nothing.
