After about 10 months of using your layer system to good effect, I’m switching it up a bit.
My template is simple: a) activation/warm-up (4-5 sets of power snatch with bar supersetted with SG DL w/ chains, 1-3 reps with 50-70% of 1RM), b) 5/3/1 work with warm-up sets, exercise 1, c) 5/3/1 work sans warm-ups, exercise 2, d) density work, related movement.
My split is:
Day 1: E1- Back Squat, E2- B/O Row, SGHP-density
Day 2: E1- OHP, E2- dec. tilt BP (full), OHP-density
Day 3: LAYERS–SGLP ramp to max, SGCP 75-85% 3 sets of 3, SGHP–density
Day 4: E1- Push Press, E2- inc tilt BP (full), close-grip BP-density
Day 5: E1- DL, E2- pull-up, Back Squat–speed work
My density work consists of 75-80% of 1RM, starting with as many sets of 4 reps with 15 secs b/w as I can get, then going to sets of 3 with 15 sec b/w, then down to sets of 2.
