Okay most of you probably aren’t aware of this but the Bush Administration will be appointing a new commisioner to the FDA. Dr. Mary Ruwart has been on the campaighn trail. Who is Dr. Ruwart you ask? She’s a libertarian who if elected will support alternative medical practioners, a drug-testing “opt-out” for terminally ill patients, which would allow them to bypass the lengthy process of FDA approval for new medication and last but not least REFRAIN FROM REGULATING NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS. This our best hope guys; if we are gonna keep the supplement industry moving ahead. Since May the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Prostate Society, and the Preventative Medical Association have sent letters to the President pledging support for Ruwart’s candidacy. The combined membership exceeds 150,000. If anyone would like to write thier representative lending support for Dr. Ruwart, you can get the info. at www.congress.org This is do-able
That is great news. I can’t believe she is in serious contention for it. I recognize her name from her column over at self-gov.org. I would expect a huge fight from the liberals, because more government regulation and controls = better-- in their minds. I would also expect the brain-dead sheeple to be against this as well if this gets into a mainstream media battle (“People should not be allowed to take unregualted drugs, because poor people could not afford to take them as well”, “supplements should be regulated, the companies just take advantage of people”). I hope she gets the nod, we need more classical liberals in government and less of the modern totalitarian kind.
Ruwart is far and away the best candidate.
Bush and the congress critters need to be
strongly “encouraged” to appoint and approve
her.
I get very excited when I see prgress happening for the Libertarian Party. I just hope this Doctor gets the job. She definately has my support.
