Prepare for the stroking of Favre’s D%^k for the next two or three days. And a movie withing five years.

He’ll be missed.

For those that haven’t see it

and top one may change.

Wow, I was really looking forward to another season of every announcer in the NFL gargling his man spunk.

Damn, that’s too bad. He was really good at getting his ass handed to him and helping our record over the last few years (6 of 8 wins since 2004). He’ll definitely be missed in Chicago.

Bear down Chicago Bears.

The most overrated quarterback, maybe even the most overrated professional athlete in history has retired.

John Madden now has nothing to talk about.

No way. He is just having fun out there because he is like a big kid.

The venom of the hate here only shows people’s admiration.

Heard he’s gonna pursue that gay porn career he’d always dreamt about. Guys got guts.

Agreed to the having fun part, but how does that constitute all the dick sucking from every sportscaster in the last decade or so?

So does this mean the entire state of Wisconsin goes back to being yet another state with nothing worth talking about?

(I always thought that meant he didn’t read the playbook)

Not on this side of the St.Croix!!!

As a Lions ‘fan’, having watched Favre destroy us single handedly over the years was frustrating. Of course they (Lions) will find a way to lose. Who will step up next and down the pussy cats?

Thats sad, I WISH HE WENT OUT ON TOP !!! He is a last of a dying breed. ELI, BRADY, you guys have alot of work to do if you want to be mentioned in the same breath, as this man by the end of your carrears. They dont come as tough as Favre, they might come faster, they might come bigger, but they dont come tougher, thats for sure. From Man-to-Man Bye Brett.

It’s unfortunate that this became so cliche. While Peyton Manning looks like he’s solving the Drake Equation and Eli looks disinterested on the field, Favre looked like he was having fun. It’s a shame that the media turned him into a hyperbole of himself. I understand people are turned off by that, by that doesn’t take away from what he has done.

Is he the greatest? Probably only in the minds of his fans. Yeah, we all know he made a lot of ill-advised throws. And sometimes it cost The Packers the game. Hell, his last professional throw was an interception. But when those throws are completed, everyone wants to shout praise and call it “vintage Favre.”

In fact, one of my favorite moments of his career is a stupid interception. It was in 1997 against the Lions. He trips coming out of the pocket and is on his knees untouched. He decides to attempt and pass while still on his knees. It’s intercepted and returned for a touchdown, Packers lose.

So what if he’s not the greatest. Depending on how you rank them, he might not even crack the top ten. But no one can question his toughness and durability. In an age when quarterbacks miss games by head-butting walls and spraining toes, Favre was always in the game.

He also had a charisma and likability that can often be lacking in sports. He had a star power that helped boost other players’ image. Warren Sapp and John Randle, while very good players in their own right, were helped in their celebrity status because they chased Favre around for years.

I realize that this whole retirement thing may have worn on people the last couple years, but it’s not entirely Favre’s fault. We live in an age of instant and constant news. Any hint of something noteworthy is going to be blown up. Additionally, I can’t blame Favre for not knowing for sure if he’s ready to leave the game or not. I can’t imagine what kind of decision that must be.

Apparently, he has made his decision, though. While it’s not quite Elway-esque, he is still going out near the top and on his terms. That’s more than can be said for Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith. So while I’m sad that he’s leaving, I’m thankful for the past 16 years that he was there for me every Sunday.
