Favre Coming Back For 2007

Well, Brett Favre is returning to my beloved Packers for the 2007 season. I for one am happy about this. I am not ready for the Aaron Rodgers era to start.

I know a lot of people think he should have retired years ago because his “skills” have diminished. But I don’t think his skills have diminshed that much.

Sure, as a player ages he loses a step here or there but Favre can still play. And can still guide the Packers to a winning season. And that’s what it’s all about.

Plus, the players want him back, management wants him back and the fans want him back. So, why should he call it quits?

I’m just happy a decision was made. Now the media can drop it until the next season starts. I was starting to get as sick of Favre coverage as I am of Barry Bonds and T.O.

I agree with that.

I’m happpy he’s coming back. I hope the Aaron Rodgers era never comes. He shouldn’t have been drafted.

The Packers are also well under the cap this year. I hope they buy some players this year.

I’m excited as well. Some rumors about Favre wanting Moss in green bay for 2007…Not so sure about the validity of such claims, considering their opposite work ethics and attitudes.

They certainly could use a few more passing options.

Agreed, Rodgers was a horrible pick in my opinion. But that’s freakin’ Sherman for ya. He was a horrible drafter… horrible.

Yup, they should be able to go out and buy some talent. Let’s hope that they can get a WR, DE or Safety.

Oh fer criss sake I hope they don’t pick up Moss. He’s not the same player he was in Minnesota. He won’t ever be the same player he was in Minnesota. And he’s not worth the headache.

Well, he’s the same selfish player but his skills aren’t the same as they were.

I just wish he’d retire already.

Great player. Great guy. Inspiring.

But, hes old. Very old by QB standards. I think he needs to let go of the rock.

Favre plays 2007 season…

Packers win super bowl…

Favre retires…

Favre runs for Govenor of Wisconsin…

Favre wins with 98% of popular vote…

I have to admit I like the guy. I like the way he plays and what he stands for…kind of the old style football. He’s also tough, there’s no denying that.

That being said, he needs to retire and give it up. It’s hard to watch and it hurts me to watch a legend struggle to win.

They did tell you you’re not supposed to actually eat those cheeseheads, just wear them… right?

Farve is an idiot. I hope he gets sacked 1st pre game next season and breaks his ribs.

Yeah, if I were a Viqueens fan I’d wish he’d retire too. I don’t know that you are a Vikings fan but you live in Minnesota. So, I just assumed.

Atleast Favre isn’t as bad as Brad Johnson!

I don’t get why everyone says it’s hard to watch? He still does that same shiat he did 10 years ago.

He makes you say “Damn, how did he do that?”

And he makes you say “Damn, why did he do that?” haha

I’m definitely glad he came back. I think with the defense improving and his O-line getting a little more experience he’ll be fine. I’d like to see them go in a different direction with the running game.

Being from Nebraska and being a Packers fan I think Ahman Green is awesome but he looked like a shadow of his former self this season.

I think it’s awesome he’s coming back. One of the best ever. And he’s a good guy. A lot of the blame for losing gets put on his shoulders unfairly.

I agree with the earlier comment regarding Ahman Green, he doesn’t look the same. That’s what a torn quad muscle will do for a running back. I’ve heard a torn quad is worse than a torn ACL for a running back.

Also, I’ve heard Favre can throw a football over 90MPH!!! Has anyone else heard this?

I agree with the Ahman Green issue as well. I liked the guy, but he wasn’t the same last year.

I still think back to 2003, when he had over 1800 yards. With the Packers awesome offensive line then and depth at running back(Davenport and Tony Fisher both averaged over 5 yards a carry), they should have traded one of their backs to improve the team.

Damn, I get so pissed when I think back to the Sherman years. 10-12 wins a year and couldn’t do a thing in the playoffs. He was a horrible GM. Every year he should have been active in free agency and the player’s market to improve the team. It was so close to a Superbowl. Instead he just made bad draft picks and rode the strength of Favre’s arm(and the O-line).

Anyway, like I said, I’m excited, but I’m nervous, too. Before last season, I told some friends that all I hope for this season, if it was Favre’s last, was to finish in the 7-8 win area with an outside shot of making the playoffs. People thought that was unlikely and didn’t expect more than 6 wins. Basically, I got exactly the season I hoped for. Now, I’m nervous I’ll be disappointed. I won’t be if they make some moves in free agency and have a smart draft.

Also, as far as people saying it’s time for him to go; why? There’s only a handful of qb’s I would definitely put ahead of him. Yes, he’s made more poor decisions in the past couple of seasons, but I think part of that was Sherman’s coaching and part is carrying such a young team on your shoulders.

Additionally, yes some athletes do play past their prime, but so what. The great players deserve to quit when they want and the bad players can play until someone kicks them off the field. Think about, they’re playing a game for a living. That’s something so many people dream about. I can only imagine how hard that would be to give up. If I were a professional athlete, they would need to tear off my uniform and cart me off the field to make me retire, so I don’t care how long anyone plays.

I think he is one or the all time greats of the game, but he has never been the same since Elway and to broncos whipped him in the super bowl.

Whipped him in the Super Bowl? Are you kidding me? Did you watch the game? They lost 31-24. And they had a chance to tie on their final drive of the game. Whipped, I hardly think so.

If Holmgren would have stuck with the running game they would have won that game. But for some reason he decided to try to throw the ball more in the second half and that’s why they lost.

Great post and I completely agree with everything you just said.

And can we please just forget about the Mike Sherman years? Especially his amazing drafting ability!

I still have nightmares about his draft day decisions.

Mike Sherman on draft day: “I’ve got a great idea, let’s make a trade to move up our next draft pick. Ok, you guys with me? And when we make that trade, we’ll pick a punter!”
