NFC should thank him for coming back.

The pack should move on.

Since 2000:
9, 12, 12, 10, 10, 4, 8 wins a season. 65 total wins in seven years. Only Indianapolis(76), New England(75), Philadelphia(75), Pittsburgh(72), Denver(70), and Baltimore(67) have had more wins in that time span. And, of those teams, all but Denver has been to a Superbowl since 2000. Also notice that Philadelphia is the only team in the NFC to have more wins since 2000, so you could argue that since 2000 the Packers have been the second best team in the NFC.

Also, regarding the interceptions, chances are you’re going to lead the league in interceptions over the last 7 seasons when you’re one of only two quarterbacks to start every game over that 7 year span. Favre does have the most interceptions since 200, but take a look at number 2 and 3: Jake Plummer and Peyton Manning. You know why? Because they have played almost every game for their team since 2000.

Favre has also thrown for 179 td’s since 2000, second only to Manning. No other quarterback comes within 20 over the same span.

I say he’s earned the right to play as long as he wants.[/quote]

Thats exactly whats wrong w/ the Packers. They owe favre ZERO. He’s earned the dough he’s recieved. The packers should be more worried about the team and the franchise. They need to start grooming the new guy and stop massaging favres massive ego.

They arent one or two players away, that team needs to be built. They should now.

If they had a new guy to be grooming, I would agree with you. But they don’t. So, let him play.

And if you tell me that Aaron Rodgers is the new guy I’m going to slap you in the back of the head!

I partially agree with this. I think Farve should come back if he wants but I don’t think the Pack should pay him a fortune.

Favre is still one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL, anyone that thinks he isn’t please list the 10 that are better. He does take chances, always did and always will. The last couple of years if you followed the Packers they had injury problems with their recievers and running backs.

In many games Favre was throwing to players that walked into 1265 Lombardi Ave a week or so before they were on the field, no training camp to get timing down, which contributed to the high number of interceptions especially in 2005.

anyone see that commerical by the NFL where it basically gave the impression that Favre was NOT coming back?

Seemed to me like a little dig on Favre FOR coming back. Bull.

Yeah, cause some douche from Pennsylvania really knows what the fans of Green Bay want, right? Thanks for telling us how to run the team, we’ll keep that in mind next time you’re loosing the Superbowl or NFC championship game.

We want him back. Why spend the time seasoning and marinading a flank steak when we’ve got filet mignon just waiting to jump on the grill?

This was the EXACT clip I had in mind when I wrote the original post LOL.

I honestly believe that if management came to Favre and said they were going after some big name free agents, he wouldn’t hesitate to take a pay cut. But other than that, I see no reason for them to change his current contract.

As far as the team itself, I don’t think they are that far away. Favre’s window is closing fast, but the team isn’t that far. Favre’s still a top ten qb. Driver is one of the best receivers in the league. The O-line that started 3 rookies last year improved greatly their pass blocking as the season went on.

8-8 almost got them into the playoffs this season and the NFC isn’t that strong right now. Their division is probably the weakest in the league and they get to play the Lions and Vikings and Rex Grossman(maybe) twice a year. With Favre under center, I say they are only a few players away.

Favre is amazing! He still has a load of talent to offer to the Packers. I cant believe that the Packers did not surround him with better talent over the past few years. Several years ago all the pieces were in place and the Pack did not want to pay up.

How good is Favre? Most polls had the Packers only winning 4 games this past year and they finish 8-8 with a win over the Bears. He has the heart of a champion!

How about Favre going to…CHICAGO for a year?

(Hey…must admit…not a bad thought!)

(Just kidding!)

Like I said earlier, if Favre is on the Bears this year, they win the Super Bowl.

I wouldn’t mind if Favre went to the Bears. Just as long as he didn’t go to the Viqueens. God I hate the Viqueens.

I have lots of respect for Lovie Smith. The Packers vs. Bears rivalry isn’t what it use to be. The rivalry is still there but the hatred isn’t. It’s now the Vikings that are hated. And it’s not just the Packers fans who hate the Vikings. It’s the whole NFC North.

Ted Thompson’s (GB’s General Manager) nuts would be hanging from the Lombardi statue in front of Lambeau Field if that ever happened.

I just wanted to bump this for all the doubters.

It should get retitled to “Favre Coming back for 2008”

I hope not. It would be great if he could recreate another great season next year, but I really don’t see it happening. I’d bet on the Packers at the very least making a NFC Championship game appearance this year, he should go out on a mostly high note.

Damn right.

I hope he wins it all this year… I want that hillbilly riding off into the sunset with a Super Bowl ring.

Agreed. I’ve always liked his style of play. He always seems willing to take chances, and when he’s playing there’s always the possibility of a remarkable comeback or dramatic finish. I’m glad to see him get back to winning.

As much as I want to see Favre go out on top - I have to stop shot this season. Maybe if the Cowboys were 1-8 instead of 8-1, it would be easier for me to get on the cheese wagon.

But for him to go out with a ring, he will have to beat my Cowboys, and I just don’t see that happening.

Brett Jr. will get to the Superbowl this year - not Sr.

Really? Don’t get me wrong, I am by no way your typical Cheesehead Packer fan. When I seriously followed football(casual fan now)I was a huge Cowboys fan. That being said, I don’t think Dallas can beat the Packers. While neither team is that great, I think the Packers take it. Either way, whoever does win gets to have their asses handed to them by the Pats!
