So proud that this thread is more than two posts.

I loved those guys.
Crouch block, then sweep. Repeat as needed.
I was best with Ryu, he was also my favorite.
Regards,
Robert A
Sagat!
Akuma/Ryu, depending on the game and my mood. They were similar enough for my shitty playing style to switch without too much trouble haha. Although there was always something special about dropping a shun goku satsu to finish a match . . .
And I’d also like to drop a giant Fuck You to this thread as I’ve downloaded mame again. And am playing SF again. Fuckers.

Ryu was my staple go-to guy.
Blanka was the coolest.
Cammie had a mighty fine cartoon babe ass. When you won, 1/3 of the time she would simply face into the screen and give you the show. Yum.
I was 12. Give me a break.
Naw, no worries, she def shook that ass at the screen when she won. Nothing wrong with getting a chubby from a little animated jiggle.

Colonel Guile.
He has the best quotes.
And seeing how he is a charging kind of character, he’s very versatile: defense = offensive prep
His sweep kicks took up half the screen, fucking annoying as hell.

I submit that no one has ever kicked ass with Zangief.
I was more of a Ken guy than Ryu (far and away the best 2.) I liked his throws and his sweep kick more. Why hasn’t Chun Li been mentioned? Her speed was excellent, and good kicks too.
I’ve never known anyone that ever played with Zangief, motherfucker was in permanent slow motion. Best character to bust out wicked combos on though cause he was SO FUCKING SLOW.

Who knew T-Nation was so salty over the Gief. Next you’re gonna say you didn’t like Honda either?
Boxer was my favorite though.
Ryu, Sagat close second.

Balrog. Although he was called M Bison in Japan versions.
Likewise
Vega = Balrog
M. Bison = Vega

Zangief was effective if you knew how to use him, the problem was players needed to learn how to get close enough to throw, pile drive etc. Faster fireballs and sonic booms eventually ran out being more effective and plentiful (he could only spin like a helicopter for so long). Characters like Honda and Blanka who used their body as the weapon lucked out more often than hit.
Range is King.
Always believe Ken had the better Shoryuken and Ryu the better Hadouken.

Had a strategy for every opponent. Sonic boom, long reach punch/kick/sweep and even longer reach somersault kick.
Hey Blanka - crouch, S/M punch, punch, punch (Blanka trying to punch), somersault kick when he gets to close = Perfect.
E FUCKING HONDA…I would sumo slap the fuck out of my opponents…
Dont let me turn into a fatass torpedo either or belly flop your ass!
This give you a hint?
Yeah, yeah, I know, he’s non-playable. I’d go with Guile for my playable character.
Errr Ryu for me lol. Tho i also like Gouken and Akuma.

Spinning like a helicopter was asking to get creamed. I personally found that move useless (although it did do a lot of damage). Yeah, had a hard time figuring out just the minimum of getting close to someone for his grabs to take effect, but once I did people tried to keep me at bay with hadoukens and sonic booms and the like, but nothing that a few well timed jumps wouldn’t fix.
I remember one of my friends complaining that the game “favored” me because sometimes it seemed that Zangief would grab air, but managed to grab my opponent nonetheless. Ahhh, good times.
