(This one’s for you Bond, c’mon, you know what it is.)
Forrest, Forest Gump. Thanks for the softball dude lol.
I’ve been mentally compiling a seventies movie list for you to watch btw. You’re love of cinema is infectious. Not blockbusters either, that would be too easy, just ones I enjoyed watching.
No worries Broski.
Ooh that sounds enticing, throw it at me! There’s no doubt some that I’ve missed, likely just due to my age. May have been obscured under the shroud of age and time…deep…

Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Just re-watched that last week.
It’s incredibly good isn’t it? To be honest, with your penchant for classy noir films, I’m surprised you’ve not made nearly as many Humphrey Bogart-related references/posts as I would have expected you to.

I could make them all day, but no one would know the answers. I would have to skip Casablanca entirely since all the good ones from that film are too recognizable. Okay, here’s one for you:
“I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me.”

Yeah, I guess past Casablanca and the Maltese Falcon, there’s not a lot of popular recognition for Bogart’s work.
That one’s In A Lonely Place, I love the fucking christ out of In A Lonely Place.

Here’s three more for you, Big Kahuna. Three different films, all starring Bogart.
“When your head says one thing and your whole life says another, your head always loses.”
“She tried to sit in my lap while I was standing up.”
“For you, chartreuse!”
“I want to tell you why I came.”
“Whatever it is, it’ll look better through the bottom of this glass.”
First is Key Largo.
Second is of course The Big Sleep.
I’ll be damned if you haven’t caught me out with that third one. For the life of me I can’t think what it could be. That’ll rattle my brain for a hell of a long time…

“One Rocco more or less isn’t worth dying for!”
That last one is from Sirocco. The quote you listed is from Key Largo, with Rocco being played by the vastly underrated Edward G. Robinson.
Smokie: Are you fucking crazy? Go back in the house.
Walt Kowalski: Yeah? I blow a hole in your face and then I go in the house… and I sleep like a baby. You can count on that. We used to stack fucks like you five feet high in Korea… use ya for sandbags.

Ah I’ve never seen Sirocco, would you recommend it? Indeed, Robinson could have been able to take his stardom way further than he was given the chance to, adored his performance in Little Caesar.
How about this one:
“You can talk sitting down; I seen ya’ doing it.”
Here’s a clue, but only if you need it. The circumstances of the plot are quite similar to that of Key Largo.
“There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape. But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis; my punishment continues to elude me, and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.”
A quote from what I believe may be one of the most under-rated and deservedly cult films I’ve ever seen. One I always wish Kubrick had the chance to take a stab at directing, then it may have been an undisputed masterpiece.
(Also, celebratory 1K post videos)
Shout out to my boy Mark Wahlberg. Keep living the high life Marky Mark!
