Favorite Comics

Secret Six has been really good. Hands down my favorite right now.

I just finished reading Superman: Red Son, this was the Elseworld comic where Superman landed in Communist Russia instead of the US. It was a very good read and showed me how freaky strong Superman really is. Also Russian Batman was a badass.

Fables is good stuff, funny to see storybook characters doing the real life shit that they do

The Superman/Batman series is well written and really funny to see the optimist(Superman) and the pessimist(Batman) take on a situation. Also the story arch where Batman was given Superman’s powers was really good. A superpowered Batman is nothing to fuck with.

Also a good Graphic Novel is: The Pride of Baghdad, I thought it was a excellent read.
Secret Six…why does this sound familiar…Sinister Six maybe?

Fuck DC.
You mean a group with two guys to beat a head-line character in a straight-up fight (and one who snapped the motherfucker in twain) vs a group with the combined powers to fail at beating up a teenager?

I can see why your loyalty is with the Marvelous ones . . .

Old Man Logan was great artwork with a decent story but didn’t have enough literary elements in my opinion. For a story so violent, clearly intended for adults, I wish it had more psychological elements in it.

The Killing Joke was great

Kevinm, you’ve given up on Marvel while wearing a Thor avatar ;)
I refuse to give my money to people who insult the common man, I was offended by an issue of Captain America, found out I wasn’t alone and then told I’m a moron for being offended. Also $4 a book is retarded and then the addition of another freaking deadpool book? Really 5 titles monthly?? Worse than Wolverine
As for the Thor avatar I enjoy norse mythology and when I die I want to go to asgard, fighting all day eating drinking and fucking at night HEAVEN

Recently got back into reading comics.

The new X-Force run - very dark.
Justice by DC - 12 issue run but lovely artwork.
Invincible Ironman

I noticed that you really need to be on the ball as there are massive story arcs over numerous titles. Lots of good stuff tho.

Exactly Secret Six = Sex, Drugs, & Amazon Rape(literally).

Sinister Six = 12 reboots and still can’t get anything right.

Also, yeah I agree, Fuck DC you guys are gonna be pissed at the crap they are gonna be doing to Batman

SPOILERS

You talkin’ 'bout the Grant Morrison return of Bruce Wayne? Or Ra’s liquidating his assets (I think that’s what’s going on in Red Robin, but I’m about to drop that title)? I’m none too fond of the current Batman; Dick Grayson sucks.

I’m guessing I can’t mention manga in this thread.

I read Bleach.

D:

Manga are comics too

I just don’t read them. I use to like Blade the Immortal.

Ooh, in that case I’ll mention I think the series has picked up to make me as excited as I was 4 years ago when Ichigo first fought Byakuya.

Exactly the Return of Bruce Wayne is gonna be like Quantum leap in Batman form. The shit is gonna get a bit ridiculous.

. . . I can deal with that. Bruce Wayne’s hell is, apparently, not dressing up in heavy, rubberized armor and scaring/ruining the shit of bad guys.

Being a caveman and knocking the shit out of other cavemen with a fucking rock hammer is kinda neat, besides.

Also, I look at all of Grant Morrison’s books the same way he looks at reality: just because it’s true, doesn’t mean it has to be real.

Then it’s also a magic spell.

So fuck it.

Bleach is awesome.
Ikigami makes you really think.

The best books out right now are:
secret six(i love the way bane is portrayed)
invincible ironman
the walking dead(worth starting from the beginning)
ultimate avengers 2

there are others i read but those are the ones i can strongly recommend. Thor, punisher and wolverine i follow no matter what. I dont like superman and the world of new krypton shit that happened so i kind of got away from that.

I would have to say that naruto is my favorite manga then bleach. Things are finally picking up in both of them now.

Cool. I never read the manga for Naruto, just saw the anime. I need to check those out, too.

I’ll reply to Pootie and Vash once this hangover subsides.

Super Hero comic - PLANET HULK

COMIC- THE WALKING DEAD

I checked out the Astonishing X-men on Hulu. The way the animation’s done, I kept thinking that guy from Archer was about to step into the frame and compare Emma Frost to his mother.

Kinda killed the whole ‘I’m serious’ vibe.

Spawn is my fav comic… I have issue 1-63 and then some others too. They were worth more when the movie came out so I have kept them and hope someday they will go up in value.

Maus is probably the best comic I have ever read,it is an account of the authors fathers experiences before and during ww2 and his time in a concentration camp. Powerful stuff. It won a pulitzer prize along with many others

Unfortunately, I never really got much exposure to comics growing up, and probably missed out on a lot of great stuff. I think I just wasn’t ever really into the whole superhero thing. I did pick up a one called “Tiger-X” by Ben Dunn that was pretty good, though short lived. He also did Ninja High School, a bunch of How to Draw Manga books, and other works.

One comic that I really liked, and was also short lived, was Joe Madureira’s “Battle Chasers”. The story was interesting and the art amazing. He started out as a regular penciler for “Uncanny X-Men” from '94-'97. Really wish he’d get back to comics.

So my favorite would have to be Battle Chasers…guess I’ll have to check out the local shop and see what they’ve got.
