I have to ask, is that really 2000g of Quark? That’s 2kg. Or am I missing something. Thanks to whoever sets me straight. And thanks to all for the drool worthy pics being posted.
2000g equals 2kg, so yeah.
DO NOT make this with Cottage Cheese! I just had a slice of the Quark one, and it’s 100 times better.

Wow. So this one big cheesecake. For those that have made it, how big is the baking dish you used? Just want to make sure I pick one up that will hold this…

I’m from Ontario too, where did you pickup quark?

Haven’t picked it up yet, going to try Loblaws, Metro, and Farmboy tomorrow night when I am in Ottawa. Hopefully I’ll get lucky.
It’s pretty BIG. Make a half measure one first. The cake tin I have it pretty big, and as you can see form my pic in the oven, this thing nearly expanded into overflow.

Found Quark at Farmboy BUT at $4.80 per 260g. So as much as I would like to try this, paying $40 for the recipe amount is too much. I am going to hunt around and see if anywhere carries it, otherwise I might need to just go with the cottage cheese version.
This sounds awesome, and will probably be my end of the year celebration capstone food.
I had to put the mixture into two baking forms, lol.
To put in the the famous words of London Runner: Es ist in zhe Oven!

Holy shit, that’s expensive! I pay 70p ($1) for 250g. Believe me, the Quark version is so much better. I’d never use Cottage Cheese again now that I’ve found Quark, honestly.

Dammit Fatty, I want some Käsekuchen!
Had some free time to spare and had to do some shopping for groceries… so Quark Torte!
The ingredients:

Let’s throw it all together and mix it up:

And put it into two baking forms… it’s too much for one, lol.

Let’s put it into zhe Oven!

Only it did take longer than 45 minutes, but there are two cakes and it isn’t a lie.
And then it’s ready!

I replaced the margarine for some real butter. =P Already had a piece and it’s the first Quark Torte my wife likes. So in a few German words: es schmeckt sehr gut!
I love you guys, I really do. (insert insecure remark about how the poster is no homo)
I was getting ridiculed for the ridiculous amount of quark I used to consume (and still do).
Nobody would want to understand me.
And now I’ve finally found my virtual quark buddies.
@debra
To the best of my knowledge, quark versions simply differ in fat ratio.
Side note: austrian people say ‘topfen’ to quark. Don’t listen to them. Anyone calling something ‘topfen’ is coocoo.
There is ‘Magerquark’ which is simply the skimmest version of quark you can get, ‘Speisequark’ and ‘Rahmquark’
‘Magerquark’ - 12.5% P, 0.5% F, 4% C
‘Speisequark’ - 10.0% P, 5.0% F, 4% C
‘Rahmquark’ - 12.0% P, 11.0% F, 3% C

Move to Europe, you bastid! ![]()
@Tatsu
Good stuff, man!
How about that training and ‘refeed’ meet of ours?
@MrZsasz
That’s insane. Somehow I’ve got the feeling you’re paying extra for a ‘BIO’ version of quark. Don’t do that.
@LR
Thanks for testing the cottage cheese variant and warning us off trying it.
You’re a pioneer.
No worries man, thank you so much for showing us the light!
I swear I was going to make another one today, a big one again, but this time maybe chocolate pudding instead of vanilla. But there was only 2 tubs (2x250g) of Quark in the supermarket. I’m going to have to check again tomorrow.
I really think I can make this a lot. It’s not over load on calories, it doesn’t have shit in it.
Great!
LR
Would it not be cheaper to make your own quark? It seems easy.
If this is the recipe it seems cheaper: Making Quark Recipe

No thanks,
LR
3rd one in the Oven right now. Didn’t go with the Chocolate in the end, didn’t want to make something that could possible be nasty. This is another big one 400g pro.
LR
I’m trying chocolate, now.
Will report.
