Fat Loss Opinions for a Noob

So I started lifting like 3 months ago and I need some opinions from people more experienced than me. I lurked around for a while on this site and read some informative stuff and designed a strength based program for myself because apparently that’s better for natural beginners. Here is what I do.

Day 1:
Squat 3x5
Bench 5x5
Overhead Press 5x5
Plus some isolation exercises

Day2: Rest

Day3:
Deadlift 5x3
Cable rows 4x8
Lat pulldowns 4x8
Plus some isolation stuff.

Rinse and repeat.

I add five pounds every workout. My current lifts are

Squat: 235 3x5
Bench: 160 5x5 (I suck at it)
Deadlift; 225 5x3
OHP: 115 5x5

I think my form is aight. For cardio I do swimming on my rest days. (Few HIIT sets and some casual swimming Cuz I hate running). My diet is not really optimal I think.

Is there anything I should be doing for fat loss other than eating better? And some general advice would be much appreciated.

diet is more important than the workout.

that workout sucks for fat loss. You’ll be stagnant within 2 weeks. Find (don’t design) another program… 10 x 3?

if you’re just beginning fat loss, don’t do any cardio. without your diet in check, you’ll just plateau quicker.

Designing a program for yourself is better for natural beginners? Really?

Your program isn’t terrible but why not stick with the tried and tested? There’s no other field in life where a raw beginner would disregard the experts approaches and hope to get superior results.

This is probably your big issue, what exactly did you eat yesterday?

What, exactly, is your goal? And what’s your starting point? If we know point A and point B, it makes it much easier to help you move from one to the other.

This format looks familiar, but the name is wrong…

Side face smiley and all of that.

Like the guys have already said, step number one is to clean up your diet. You’ll spin your wheels without it, but we can’t give more specific advice without knowing what you’re currently doing.

Step number two is to get on a better training plan. Your profile says you’re 6’1" and 278. If that’s accurate, a daily walk of an easy-ish 20-30 minutes every day would be a start and wouldn’t interfere with your lifting (once you get a better-designed lifting program).

Step three would be to smoke less weed. Although that really ties into step one.
