I keep reading your log and I always end up speechless. You simply amaze me and you still find time to aid so many others in their quests. You definately have the heart of a champion. All the best to you on your journey.
Ditto, what Streamline said. The fact that you do what you do, at the level that you do, without pretension or the sense that those around you aren’t worthy of your time, just shows that your character is at a level equal to or above that of your lifting.
Okay, enough brown-nosing. Seriously though, I, and I am sure a multitude of others, really appreciate it.
Meat, it looks like you the bands tied down to a couple of plates, is that right? I didn’t think that would be strong enough, but, in addition to holding down the bands, it would give you a pretty good idea of the resistance at the top.

those are 100lb plates. at some point i will figure it out but in reality it doesn’t really matter. i treat the bands as a constant and just add weight to the bar. If i had to guess, i think the bands add about 100lbs at the top. 45lb plates would definitely be flying off the floor.

I really appreciate it bro. I get as much joy and satisfaction from helping others as i do with my own training.
a short story- there’s a guy at my gym that works really hard and is very dedicated to his training. He’s been at it for a long time. He used to compete in Natural bodybuilding and did pretty good. Now he’s 52 and very interested in powerlifting. I give him advice when I’m there and he takes everything to heart and puts it to practice. My training partner has known him forever. He’s a constant at our gym. Anyway, the guy only has the one set of workout clothes that he wears each week and uses medical bandages for knee wraps. He has this old belt that one would use at Home Depot to unload trucks. He modified it by cutting the shoulder straps off but it pretty much is useless. He mentioned one day that his wife has been ill for a very long time and has had a hard time holding down a job because of it. He’s not the type to ask for anything.
His relentless spirit inspires me in my training. He’s had so many hardships in his life but always has a smile on his face. It really puts things into perspective for me.
I wanted to do something for him to help him out but didn’t want him to feel like i was taking pity on him or make him feel uncomfortable. I decided to order him an Inzer lever belt like mine. My only problem now is how to give it to him without it seeming like charity. It just sits in my truck waiting for the right words.
I tell this story becuase many of you have been so appreciative and gracious. I am thankful for that but I get so much more in return from all of you when i see you succeed and reach those short and long term goals. With so many aspects of life that are negative you folks renew my faith in humanity.
then… i go and read the comments on my youtube vids and I quickly see the other side:)

thanks again!!
I have nothing to be pretentious about. I’ve been blessed in many ways. I consider myself an average lifter with average ability and strength. I do think that i have a pretty good work ethic though. I will do anything to help someone that also has a strong work ethic.
this is a great place to be.

Meat- This is awesome.
You could always tell him you ordered it and it’s the wrong size (or, you just love your old belt too much, or they got the order wrong or something) and returning it isn’t worth the trouble, and it will just sit unused.
I read alot, and post a little.
But I wish to echo what has been said by so many others. Meat…your the man. Alot of folks wish we could lift the numbers you do, but it seems I find a guy with character that is to be emulated also.
I’d just walk up to him, hand it over and say Dude you Rock, lift safe" and walk away no muss no fuss.
Now you’re my Hero. All the guy’s on this forum are awesome!

thank. that really means a lot.
I only post when i think i can help. All of my knowledge has come from reading stuff that others have done and through work under the bar. I’m constantly reading and learning.
I wish more of the forums on this site could be like this one.

this is probably the route i will take. I wish there was a way that i could give it to him without him knowing its from me.
Leave it at the desk with a note?
Meat you are a class act, thanks

MM, Streamline said it best. I agree with his observations. Dont let the belt ride around in your truck. Your actions speak volumes.

Tell him you are selling raffle tickets… $1 a piece or something with numerous prizes, one of them being a belt, t-shirts, stuff like that.
Then, tell him he won the belt a day or two later… and give it to him… perhaps with a t-shirt from your sponsor?
