I know there have been a couple threads on these, but I wanted to add my endorsement…these things are amazing!
Benefits I’ve noticed so far:
-Insane forearm activation on curls…
-Better bicep isolation on curls…
-I have medial epicondylitis (climbers elbow), by using these for chinups there is no pain at all…
-I also have tendonitis which gets triggered by skull crushers and dips, using these has completely alleviated the pain…
If you’ve been on the fence about these, definitely get a pair, you will not be sorry.
I’ve got some but haven’t really used them since playing around initially. I am intrigued about trying them for dips/skulls though, as my wrists/hands don’t enjoy them (get a weird painful feeling from the pressure of pushing down in one spot on dips, wrists hate skulls) and this could be the ticket to doing them pain free.
Just got a pair myself so I cant exactly vouch for them just yet, but I’ve incorporated a fair amount of far bar training in the last 6 months or so and have noticed I actually am getting some forearms finally.
The FatGripz are awesome in stimulating the forearms, and grip strength, from what I can gather so far. I think they really shine on DB exercises, but also work well on BB exercises.
You certainly feel your forearms got hit more after using them, thats for sure. These are kind of thing that certainly will take MONTHS to see the effects from, and might even take years to really get the most out of (forearm growth, grip strength), but that just means they are a great training tool to have in your bag and to use for years to come…
A winner in my opinion. But dont look for a quick fix here, stick with them for a long time and you will reap the rewards.
I have a pair and like them. I noticed new growth right away in my forearms.
barbell pressing feels loads more comfortable on my joints when I use them. Incline presses used to really bother my shoulders and elbows. Fat Gripz have totally eliminated that

Maybe I am trading this incorrectly but how can you have both forearm activation and bicep isolation on the same exercise?

Yeah, “isolation” was the wrong word choice, I meant “activation”.
I got mine about a month ago and have been using them on all pressing movements and dumbbell curling. I love the feel of them and my shoulder pain has greatly decreased.
Also noticing some forearm gains, which has always been hard for me to accomplish. Can’t wait to see what they’ll look like in 3 months.
Oh yeah, and it’s kind of nice to just automatically KNOW where your grip is going to be going every set instead of making sure to have both hands correctly in place prior to the lift. Most lifters probably don’t even think twice about it, but once you have these it’s just kind of like, “Oh, well that’s kind of neat.”
I use them for deadlifts, I find there great for warm ups.
135 x 10
225 x 10
315 x 10
Then i ditch them, and 400 feels like 135… They are seriously an amazing tool.
Agreed. They are awesome. Made my arms MUCH thicker from wrist to delt. Best $39 I ever spent.
they’re great stuff. Took a note from John Meadows and use them for ropepressdowns as a finisher on upperbody day, the all over arm pump is insane
I bought these when they came out; used them for a few workouts then sold them to another T-Nation member.
Then I came across the Tyler Grips - use them when I want to switch it up a bit.
DL’ing with either of these grips changes the workout completely.
I have to bring mine to the gym more often…
*Pimpbot: Have you found that the tendonitis goes away with a fatter bar or thicker grip BUT comes back if you return to the regular 1" thick bars?
Did some more Googling; here is a link to Fat Gripz vs. a competitive product:

Hard to say…since these are my new “toys” I’ve been using them on almost every exercise!
