Fat Fast, Day 31--Advice?

Ok you answered all of the questions that I had. I was mostly worried about losing muscle (just finished a strength and mass phase). I’m not going to do the andro because I just got off that stuff but I’ll be loaded up on ephedrine which I believe is muscle sparing. I will mostly gauge the diet by my strength. I know where I’m at right now and as long as I don’t start losing a lot of strength I’ll be ok with it. I think its worth 30 days of hell to get the results.

As far as the liquid stuff you were doing I’m not sure if I was going to go that route. I was thinking of doing oil-packed tuna instead, insuring that I was only getting about 1200-1300 calories a day. I don’t guess that chocolate protein with flax would be all that bad but the protein I use doesn’t have a lot of flavor. I’m sure my meals would taste like goat’s ass (whatever that tastes like).

I’m curious what your hunger was like. I realize that once the mirror starts telling you what’s happening that its probably very motivational; how did you get to that point? I’m guessing that the initial water loss is going to be a kick in the ass and I figure I would start noticing a difference by week 2 if I was doing everything right. I wasn’t even sure about carbing up but I think it would be beneficial both from an anabolic standpoint and from the standpoint that reasonable carbs isn’t going to do anything other than take you out of ketosis temoporarily. This probably isn’t a big deal; I have read many places that a lot to a ketogenic diet might actually be in the refeeds. I’ll just have to see how that goes.

I’m going to start my fat fast on Dec 1 and I’m going for 30 days. After that its going to be a bulking phase on a relatively high-calorie T-Dawg 2.0 or something.

Thanks for you info.

This may be a dumb question but, I thought the andro was used as the muscle-sparing supplement? (Don’t know too much about supplements yet – I’ve actually been educating myself the past few days searching around the forums for a few hours at a time…)

Doctor, if you check out my post a few back you’ll note a trend in my tips…almost all of them revolved around dealing with the hunger issue. I don’t really think there’s any way around it at that caloric level, and so I just tried to keep it manageable through the various tricks I mentioned (Crystal Light, coffee and/or diet soda, psyllium husk between meals, etc.). In an odd way, though, I didn’t really mind the hunger (the same way you might not mind the pain during a really great squat workout). I took it as feedback that I was in full diet mode, making progress toward fat loss. After months of giving in to every reasonable food whim and paying the price for it physique-wise, the sacrifice was actually refreshing.

The other thing I should mention, though, is that I never let myself be put in a situation of temptation…I cleared all the goodies out of my house, and stayed away from the various Halloween treats my well-meaning co-workers brought to the office.

Good luck on your upcoming diet, Doc, and keep us posted.
