thats a great effort, but clearly just a stepping stone if you can double it!
3 wheels for sure, dragon power!
Dragon Power indeed
Thanks everyone.
It’s thanksgiving 'round these parts and the beautiful sunshine was beckoning. Decided to grab some booty shorts as a last summer hourah and head outside for a ruck walk.
5km
35lbs bag
little under an hour.
goal wasn’t time but simply to be outside and enjoy the weather.

I’ve been on forced rest for the past 3 days due to the ink - today I was ready to rock it.
except my Mp3 player died on me.
And I forgot to have a decent lunch.
I decided to channel Oro and LWI. Also the beautiful sunshine gave me an extra boost.
Got to the gym…warmup:
foam roll
hams and calves stretch
prayer squat
retard frogs
bodyweight squats
shoulder dislocates
*my ramp up was faster as per Ink’s suggestion to just deal with it…
Squats
Bar x8
95 x5 - use of wrist wraps
115 x3
135 x3 - use of belt start 5 minute rest between sets.
155 x2
175 x2
195 x2 - rep PR +1. start 10 minute rest between sets
215 x1 - PR +5lbs
brief foam roll and stretch
225 x1!!! PR +15lbs. Felt a little high, ugly and unstable.
brief foam roll and stretch
225 x1 hellz yeah. with better form and depth.
I’ve been chasing 225 for years!!! I did it without my music, and all my little brain tricks. That means I have more in me under better conditions. Planning to tripple it next workout.
I have checked a box from this year’s to do list, and checked a 5 yr goal. This smile should last me a few days ![]()

This was a feel-good read. So happy for you!
Yay Frenchie! Welcome to the two plate club! Rawr!
Hey Frenchie nice job on the PR!!!
tear it up
excellent work!
way to crush the goals.
and FTW booty shorts
What does having PR’s coming out of your ass so much smell like? :-p
Aw poor mp3, mine died earlier this year, my replacement hasn’t been the same. But that’s what I get for taking a bath with it.
Ironcross - the victory is sweeter when I can share with people who get it.
BG - Fist Bump!
Germanone - Thank you ![]()
Kev- agree on the shorts, although I prefer not to tear those up. ![]()
Mt- I’ve been working for years on that squat. My recipe: Don’t chase 2 rabbits. Mine is strength. 2 days of rest between workouts. 10 mins rest between lifts. Always warmup. Keep accessories basic. Low reps, heavy weight. Eat high protein, eat from scratch, eat a lot. Sleep 8-10hrs a day. If you want to cry foul I do have the advantage of hormonal imbalancement and I haven’t been taking my estrogen since July. Planning to get back on it after my meet, sometime early November.
I’m flying out to TO for the week. I’ll try to go the Kimba way and hit a few gyms while I’m there. I even packed my blue beast belt.
LWI!
The ink looks great Frenchie.
Holy Moly!!! Congrats on the big squat PR! That’s fantastic! I read an article on hear (I think by CT) that talked about not listeningto music all the time at the gym cause blaring your headphones all the time can overload your CNS (or something like that) he had a pretty cool example/story about it and I thought it made sense. Maybe you were just more focused since you didn’t have any jams?
Either way… Congrats!!! That’s an awesome achievement and a big milestone. You’re going to kick ass at your meet!
I’ve been going without my music for some time now. It really helps me focus on breathing and the muscle that I’m working.
I ‘earn,’ music for cardio.
safe travels!

This statement interested me. Since I’ve heard a bit about how this all plays a role in strength.
Jeez. 225. Wow. That’s the most I’ve ever squatted. And that was all wrapped up like a sausage.

That is an interesting statement - but don’t depreciate your endeavors based on chemistry, Mainy! You worked damn hard for that PR!! And I’d wager that the only thing going back on estrogen will do is make your hormones fluctuate, you’re strength will still be there and YOU WILL KICK ASS!
Great job!
I don’t think she was trying to offend.
Drive by posting:
Found the gym attached to the hotel on Wednesday morning. Not used to early AM training and 7am is way too early to tap the crazy. Tried a new pre-workout to try and give me a boost. Bad idea, I just sat there on the bench in a daze scratching from the beta alanin.
Grabbed my towel for a couple of ghetto shoulder dislocates and got to business. Everything was slow and heavy.
Bar x8
95 x5
115 x5
125 x3
135 x1 - what!
135 x2 - better…
140 x2 - happy with this at 7am.
115 2x8
Keep Lifting
Good for you getting your work in.
Now come play.

Congrats on the Squat PR!
As for the ruck walk, yay for being outside but you confused me with mixing the measurement standards there, Frenchie! ![]()
Great job nlmain!
