Fat, Bald, and D@%n Near 50

Monday morning workout Dongguan, China

Dumbbell complex: 5x35x10
Treadmill walk: 30 minutes

After 27 hours of travel time, 15 hours on one plane watching the Disney Channel (the movie player wouldn’t work in my seat ) I have made it to China. Woke up about 5:30 and did a nice round of complexes. The hotel has a nice fitness center but alas, no barbells. So I worked like hell with the dumbbells. It’s overcast here. We can’t decide if its smog or clouds. Dongguan is an industrial city. Soon we will be out and about trying to peddle our wares.

Hope all is well at home and everybody is training hard!

JW’s warped wisdom from half way around the world: When you feel neglected, think of the female salmon, who lays 3,000,000 eggs but no one remembers her on Mother’s Day

JW in China. I’m tired. I’m doing complexes running intervals, visiting factories and eating OK. Here is a photo to prove it… haha

JW’s meandering musings: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Lookin’ good JW! Put that one side-by-side with your “before” picture and be proud of just how far you’ve progressed!

You’re a trooper! All that travel and most people would pass on the complexes and running! You rock!

Nice pic of the … um, wood?

(A little off-color lumber humor for ya!)

You are looking a lot trimmer than the last picture of yourself that you posted.

Bet the missus is keeping an eagle eye out for possible mistress activity…

Nice wood, great work ethic

Lookin’ slim, trim and full of vim! You got some serious dedication buddy. I probably would have grabbed a bottle of something strong and went to bed.

Sunday morning workout, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Dumbbell upper body complex: 5x35x10
Treadmill walk 30 minutes

Just another workout in a foreign country. I’m keeping my weight stable at the very least. The diet is hard here, becasue I REALLY like the beer here!!

I miss really lifting but this will have to do with what I am given. One more week and it will be back in the saddle for me. I can’t wait!

*** EDIT*** JW’s random wierd ass thought of the day: If one can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague EDIT

You’re an exercise addict Willy. Hope your trip has generated more business for you.

I like your random weird ass thoughts of the day.

Eco, we have sold about 50 contianers so far. It’s been pretty exciting.

Skid, this is for you…

JW’s randomness that makes you question his sanity: You know how most packages say “Open here”. What is the protocol if the package says, “Open somewhere else”?

JW3-- In China, do they just call Chinese Food — “food”?

I know it’s hard to schedule in ‘sweat time’ on the road-- Looking good!

This is no bullshit, Steely. My Chinese guy will say “Lets go get Chinese food, how you feel for Hunam style?”

In China its Chinese food!!

That’s easy. You send it to me. I’m usually somewhere else.

I don’t know how much is in a container, but 50 of them sounds like a lot.

sounds like business is good-
my business is dying so its good to see someone doing well

Saturday pm workout

Front Raise in the smith: 4x75x10
Dumb bell row: 4x55x10
Lat pull down: 4x120x10
Face pulls: 4x40x15
Chest supported rows: 4x85x10

Back to the gym today. It felt good to be back in the saddle. Hell, for that matter its good to be home! I?ll be renewing the diet effort. It actually began a bit sooner than I had expected. It seems after 2 weeks of Asian food, my body can?t take cheeseburgers and fries. EVERYTHING I have eaten since my return has run right through me!

JW?s Random late evening thought: If the world was a logical place, men would ride horses side-saddle.

The random late evening thought makes sense to me this time. Welcome home.

Sunday morning workout

Bench press with bands: 135x10, 4x185x6
Decline dumbbell press: 4x55x12
Floor Press: 205x8, 3x225x4, 225x0
CGP in the Smith: 4x185x5

I’m back to my routine. It was up at 4:30 and off to the gym. My world is back right side up again. I had a good solid workout. After what was in essence a 2 week layoff I’m ready to go at it again. The shoulder felt good on the pushing day. Now I need to get the workout revamped. I guess I’ll get to reading and researching.

I got greedy on the floor presses. Couldn’t get the 225 on the last set. Crawling out from under the bar was kind of embarrassing. It was a good thing no one was in the gym! I have a nice case of DOMS working. Like Hel says, it feels like a long lost friend!

What a beautiful spring Sunday. I think today will rate a Harley ride.

JW’s thought of the day: The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

Monday morning workout, eastern North Carolina

Tortureplexes: 5 sets with 115# and 65#
Too whipped to treadmill

I use 2 barbells now with complexes. Since I was only using dumbbells during my travels, I lowered my working weights a little. Still it kicked my ass! I started with stiff leg dead lifts, then a high pull, and a bent row, using the bar with 115 lbs. Each set I increased a rep. With the 65 lbs bar I did OHP and squats with 10 reps each. By the 5th set I was whipped.

Apparently the cold I left with has morphed into a mild sinus infection and chest cold. I think the air pollution in southern China just tore me up. It reminded me of photos I saw of smog in the LA basin in the '70s. Half of the factories are closed. So I can only imagine how the air would be there is things were going full bore. I guess the rural south has ‘spoiled’ my lungs. Hopefully I can get thru this and get back to the cardio work.

JW’s Monday morphed perspective: If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be “meetings.”
