See a lot of guys doing bench and shoulder presses on the same day. Way too much strain on my front delts.
Seems like we’re going in opposite direction in the bench. Flaring my arms out more ala BB style has helped my trap/shoulder problem, if not my max. Sure swelling up the pecs, though.

Agreed, I laid off the OHP for a while and that helped me out a bunch too.
Monday morning workout
Abbreviated Complex 5x95x8
Went home, took a shower.
All I did was high pulls and rows in a superset. I just couldn?t press. I was so damn frustrated I didn?t do and interval. I at least should have done that.
I guess I?m going to have to take it easy for a few days. I was at the cusp of making a 300 bench press. Oh well… I guess 300 will still be there after I work thru this setback.
You needed a week off any ways. You been hitting it non-stop for some time now. Maybe some face pulls and rotator cuff stuff would be helpful. Dig into the rehab articles here. Could be something in there that might help.
Tuesday morning workout
Zercher Squats: 5x135x8
Barbell hack squat: 2x135x5
Decline leg raises: sets of 25, 21, and13
I had no shoulder problems with the zerchers. The hacks hurt my shoulder a little bit because my stubby little arms don?t reach around my wide body. Leg raises really blasted my abs.
Off to the biggest chore of them all, transferring my crap from this computer to the new one. UGH!!
You should shoot a PM to danjo on this forum. He’s a PT. Pain with a non-pressing has never happened to me. And where’s our warped statement of the day.
Sorry about missing the warped statement of the day. I guess I was kinda bummed about my damn shoulder…
Wednesday morning workout
Barbell complex: 5 sets
Complexes were done in this order:
Speed dead lift: 8x135
High Pull: 5x135
Bent Row: 6x135
OHP: 65x10
Squat: 65x10
I was whipped by the 4th set. I am still sweating, 2 hours later. I likes this new work!! My shoulder hurts less. I found a big ass pillow and arraigned it in a way that I would not sleep on my shoulder. The wife was pissed; she said I was building a fence between us. BUT I woke up with very little stiffness and virtually no soreness. I think I’m going back to the gym tonight for some light benching; maybe some weighted pushups, and triceps work
JW’s random randomness for the day: A teenager is God’s punishment for enjoying sex
Great news about the shoulder. I hope the new sleeping setup is the fix.
I sleep with a pillow for my left shoulder. It has helped alot.I also sleep on my back too!Hope it gets to feeling better.Have a great day willy.

So - suggest switching the sides of the bed you take so that the pillow is near the edge of the bed instead of the middle of the bed.
On a different note: What kind of new computer did you end up getting?

I did that. My wife is funny about sleeping closest to the door… Its funny the sleep habits we have.
I bought a Thinkpad from the Lenovo outlet website

Too funny
We had IBMs for a few years at work but switched to Dells. The Thinkpads worked well.
Wed evening workout:
Incline close grip speed presses(that?s a mouth full) 4x135x12
Face pulls: 4x45x15
Weighted pushups: 4 sets of 10 with 35# on my back
I wanted to get some blood flowing last night. Worked out kind of light. The weighted pushups were interesting. Surprisingly they didn’t hurt much at all. Worked up a good sweat and was home in about 45 minutes.
Thursday morning workout:
Squats in the Smith: 135x10, 205x6, 2x245x6,245x1, 205x6
Decline leg raises: sets of 30, 23, 13
Seems I like to tweak my lower back occasionally on the Smith. It always happens when I’m trying to get the weight to fit right on my shoulders. Seems I would learn to get myself positioned BEFORE I pick the weight up… My back was kind of tight from the deads and pulls I threw in the complexes yesterday.
I have a long working weekend in store here. We are changing out a band mill in one department, a huge electrical component to replace in another department, and pack for 2 weeks in Asia. Looks like I’ll be spending part of Easter on an airplane to Hong Kong and before it?s over in Dongguan. Then we are off to Saigon for a week in Vietnam.
I guess I’ll get a deload during that 2 weeks!
You should try the 300 workout. Thats a huge complex.
I looked at the 300 workout Eco. I only do the complex as something to do besides cardio. Honestly I’d rather do some real powerlifter’ oly lifter programs. My gym just isn?t that ‘friendly’!
Friday Morning workout:
Barbell complex: 3 sets… kicked my fat ass
Sets consisted of;
Stiff leg dead lift: 5x135
High pulls: 5x135
Bent Row: 5x135
OHP: 65x5
Squat: 65x10
This complex kicks my ass, as stated above. The heavy high pulls are so damn fun. I just wish I was stronger like in the olden days when I did them. By my 5th set I want to crawl out of the gym? One day I’m going to do this and run an interval…HAHAHA
Seems like I’m the proverbial one eyed cat watching 9 rat holes in a room full of rocking chairs lately. Life really wants to get in the way of my workouts. I’m going to quit working out, and find something to train for? What that will be, I have no clue!!
JW warped wondering: ?If Hooters were to become a door-to-door service would they have to change their name to Knockers??
There is a push/pull coming up in Charlotte on 5/30. That could be a goal. You could go and spot me on the bench ![]()

Now that is an idea… I’ll have to check and see what I have going on. where in charlotte is the meet?
Belmont,I’m not sure of the exact location. Check it out on powerliftingwatch.com
I checked it again. It’s in Cramerton. Between Charlotte and Gastonia and it’s an AAPF meet which means it’s drug tested.
Saturday Morning workout…posted late
OHP: 75x20, 3x75x15
Decline Dumbbell Rows: 45x8, 3x45x10
Lat pull downs: 4x110x15
Chest supported rows: 4x75x15
No treadmill time
I had to reload my computer. Seems I fucked up a driver somewhere. It’s been a fun day between restoring this damn computer, attending to 2 sinus infected females, and going to lunch with my mom for her 73rd birthday. It’s been some Saturday. Hell, I even forgot to take my morning meds… Oh well I didn’t stroke out!!
I did light weight high rep workout this morning. I was too damn lazy to run an interval. The workout got some blood pumping in the bum shoulder. I have some plans to tweak the training. I’ll be smart and have a push and pull day. I’m thinking I’ll move to a Tuesday / Wednesday - Saturday / Sunday deal. It will be fun!
EDIT JW’s Thought for the day that I forgot: Relationships have been on the decline ever since women came out of the cave, looked around and said, “this isn’t so bad.”
