I think I am going to do some today…
I played with smith machine front squats- they seemed to work out a little better
but I did have to spend a good bit of time playing with foot position and how my knew track.
I think a frog stance or a plie stance
with light weight might be best for smith machine
squats.

I think your right about the stance and the volume using the Smith, kmc. I think I may offer to buy the gym owner a power rack in exchange for a membership. I’d like to squat like a normal guy!!
Squats in the Smith machine: 135x10, 185x5, 205x5, 225x5, 245x5, 265x3
Dumbbell pushup ab thingies: 4x45x16
Incline leg raises: 4x15 reps.
My back was just a wrenched thing. It feels good and no problems today.
HOWEVER apparently I am living in the middle of a newspaper article on the ills of pop culture. My daughter has had to endure the 'Mean girls" syndrome in the 4th grade. Now in the 5th she has been exposed to cyber bullying and cyber fighting with one of her ‘friends’. Go figure. Needless to say she has been restricted from cyber land for a while. Good thing we have the family 'puter where we can keep our eyes on her.
Since tonight is ballet night I’m thinking about going and playing with my new bands. Gotta get that bench up!

A power rack will help all your lifts willy.Sounds like a great idea.Keep hammering away brother.
Kids sure have a lot of crap to put up with nowdays. I just don’t remember girls being so physically aggressive back when.
Glad is was nothing seriuos with the back. Squats are getting up there with the bench.
I tested out my bands for the first time. This was interesting and I can see how it will help my bench. I guess I need to figure out an assistance program. All and all I had great fun, while the numbers are not going to set the world afire. It will be interesting to see the results after a few months.
Your arm must be sore from patting yourself on the back. Awesome progress j_willy3 you most be feeling great. I get such inspiration from seeing other succeed at there goals. Soon 300 will only be a memory as you reach for the sky. Stay strong!
I can’t decide if I’m a glutton for punishment or a creature of habit. I am sore from last night and then hit the complexes pretty hard. I guess I’m trying to over load my body since my training will be spotty at best. Sunday I am off to L.A. (Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama) and Portland. I’ll get a good chest workout in tomorrow then off in the ‘big bird’ Sunday morning.

Wow! you’re really pushing the weight up on the complexes. Did the complexes help relieve som e of the soreness? Seems to work that way for me…when I bother to do them, that is.

Yep Skid, they really help with the soreness. Sometimes I really screw up and push myself.
I was feeling froggy today with a 295 attempt. My frogginess was slapped back into my face! But all in all it was a good workout. I think I’ll try to do the board presses and bands on Saturday and the benching on Wed or Thurs. CGP’s were really tough by the end of the morning.
Bench is really moving up. I see 3 plates soon. Good luck on your trip. Don’t be pickin up no funny ideas out there in LaLa land. All the weirdos live out there. Except Skid, of course.
Off to the airport for the red eye home. We sold some lumber and found some new customers. I have been from L.A to Seattle and back to Portland. My workout routine was dumbbell complexes with a 30# set of dumbbells and 20 minutes of treadmill intervals. Tough and semi-brutal. I can’t wait to get back to my regular gym.

Here is a photo of Mt.Hood this morning[/quote]
Cool photo J! and a good job keeping up with the sessions while on travel.
It felt good to be back in the gym. Workout maintenance on the road is challenging, more mentally than physically. The barbell was physically challenging. I’ll bump the weight back up on the next complex day.
Had the red eye from Hell. I was in the back row on the window seat of a completely full plane. They had the heat cranked up and after an hour and a half I was standing in the aft galley. I hung out there for 2 1/2 hours. just standing around. We barely made our connection and at 9 pm my bags arrived. 40 hours on 4 hours of sleep wasn’t much fun! While the morning workout kicked my ass, it was a welcome ass kicking!
