Thanks for the good wishes Skid, hel, eco, Jimmy T,Cappy, and wasbrok3n. Lost weight, drank Old Ezra Rare, Makers Mark and took a steam. The best cure was time away. But I’m back in the saddle and back in the gym this morning.
Saturday morning workout
Ab machine crunches: 5x110x25
Barbell complex: 5x65x5
Treadmill: 20 minutes
I took it easy today. I lowered my weights on the complexes and took a brisk 20 minute walk on the treadmill. Felt good. I’ll be back to full speed soon. I’m going to re-work the training. I think I’ll go back to a 3 or 4 day a week program. I’ll do the complexes and treadmill on the off days. Maybe I can better balance the weight loose with the strength gains I seek and the time constraints of my morning workouts.
Have to go pick up a Christmas tree. Y’all have a nice weekend!
Glad your feelin better. Wife picked out a cedar out back for our tree and I cut it down and hauled it in today. Love the smell all over the house right now.
Dips: 5xbwx10
CGP in the smith: 4x135x6
Cable Ext with rope: 4x50x8
Not much to report. I took it easy today I guess.
I’m thinking I have lost my way somewhere along the line. I’m going to restructure things and get back to my initial goal of “ugly strong” with a mix of complexes and cardio on the off days. So, I’ll muddle thru until I get the training straight in my head.
willy, do you mind explaining how you do your complexes? For instance if you do 4 exercizes, do you do them all one at a time and repeat the entire routine until you have done 5 of each, or do you 5 of each exercize before proceeding to the next? Thanks

A set consist of High pulls, military press, squat, lunge, and bent row. I do 5 reps of each componet and move to the next one. Then I rest for 90 seconds and repeat.
I also observed the following during a night of restless sleep. My wife and cat combined occupy 1/3 the space I occupy. However in our king size bed they can occupy 85% of the bed combined. Those fancy FreeCreditReport.com commercials are cute. I did the free credit report, found the wife was holding a credit card back from me…haha tricky lady. My daughter’s dog sleep barks. You would think the little rat terrier was chasing a bear. Of course my daughter jabbers in her sleep . The cat and the wife snore.[/quote]
That’s way to funny, so what do you do when you sleep?

Really glad to hear you’re doing better.

Streamline, I toss and turn. My wife swears I snore like a freight train. Funny if do snore it has never bothered my sleeping!

Long as your doing something is what counts. I keep changing my routine all the time. You’ll figure out what you want to do.
I was lazy today. Actually I’m probably more depressed about business than lazy. But I went in and did something. That is the battle. Going to re-start Saturday with bench day. Until then its complexes and treadmill work.
Nothing sexy to report. Just a good sweat and a lot of heavy breathing. After a day long meeting out of town it was quite satisfying to get in the gym this morning.
No treadmill today and only 4 sets of complexes. I just couldn’t get going today. I have been suffering a malaise since I was sick the other week. Tomorrow I have a pretty big bench routine planned. Maybe that will break the funk.
Bench Press: 135x10, 205x5, 245x3,245x2, 225x4, 2x225x3
Incline dumb bell press: 45x6, 4x50x6
CGP in the smith machine: 185x6, 4x185x5, 185x4
Cable cross over’s: 5x35x5
Then numbers show it’s pretty obvious that I have been out of the groove with the heavy lifting. While my numbers have slid quite a bit, it felt good to start a program.
My lifting has lost its focus for the past few months or so. I sort of fixated on the weight loss aspect. I over focused on cardio. I lost my way. I don’t know how that happened exactly but I’ll get back in the saddle. Just call me the prodigal son, I was lost, but now I am found again!
I hear Gene Autry singing in the back ground. Not to worry, you’ve been getting in some good workouts and it’s not like you’ve been doing nothing. Now, back to the quest for Ugly Strong.
Standing Military press: 2x95x6, 2x105x6
T-Bar Row: 90x6, 3x115x6
Lat Pull down: 4x150x6
Lat Raise: 4x90x6
Bent Row: 4x135x6
Face pull: 40x12, 3x45x12
I had a good workout this morning. I probably should have pushed up the weights a little more. I will save that for next Sunday. I am hopeful my return to the quest of “Ugly Strong” is well on it’s way.
I took my daughter to see one of these Cirque performances. Talk about athletes! I can only imagine their training routine, as well as the rehearsals they do for the show. Shot the diet all to hell with a dish of chicken, shrimp, prosciutto ham and lemon basil pasta for supper along with a goat cheese and roasted pepper bruchetta. WTF! It was good!
