Abs machine crunch: 4x120x30
Shrug in the Smith: 3x290x8
Barbell Complex: 7x75x5
Treadmill interval: 20 minutes
Woke up this morning and got me some aspirin…ha-ha not really but I am sore from yesterday’s workout. MAN that feels good!! Barbell complex today consisted of hang clean to standing press to squat to good morning to bent row. I just kept pushing faster and faster. 7 sets later it was a treadmill interval. I’m not sure why I torture myself like this, but at 47 its damn fun! I have more than one friend or relative that thinks I’m totally off my rocker!
It’s a helluva note. I got in my truck at the airport and turned the radio on. I was tired of listening to CNBC and switched to my music channel on XM. Well sonofabitch! It ain’t there anymore. If fact the whole XM dial is jumbled up with it’s integration with Sirius. So In the rain and rush hour traffic I was trying to find a radio station I would like. Thank goodness for controls in the steering wheel.
Dips: BWx5, 5xbw+50x5
JM Press in the Smith: 2x225x8, 235x5, 235x3
Barbell complex: 4x85x5
Treadmill intervals: 20 minutes
Oh how I love dips. My wife and some of my friends swear I can be a dip shit…so maybe that is why I have a love for them. Bumped the weight on the JM Press. I think I’m going to migrate towards 4 sets of 6-8 reps for a while. Today my complex was snatch pull, military press, squat, lunge and bent row. I’m kinda liking these complex thingies. Far be it for me to understand, the treadmill intervals seem to be a helluva lot easier after a complex too!
Back in the saddle at work. As good as it is to be home, I am up to my ass in alligators after one week of being gone. To coin another southernism, “'I’ll be as busy as a one eyed cat watching 9 rat holes in a room full of rocking chairs.”
I have a time limit in the morning I am working under, between gym hours, home hours, wife and kid and work. So I am moving some exercises around to accommodate the complexes. Hopefully after a few months I will see some direct results. I know one thing, I am sore like I have not been in a while!
It’s interesting how my workouts evolve. As much as they are regimented they seem to be fluid and almost ‘living’. Every subtle nuance seems to help to move things forward. If I had used my noodle more in my younger days I might not have a 20 year gap I’m dealing with now. Still it amazes me I can make progress at 47. That will always amaze me!
You have inspired me and don’t mean to hijack this thread but there seems to be a lot of relevant advice… I’m 46, 60 lbs overweight but with a athletic and fitness background. I’ve been checked out by a doctor and despite my weight, all my vitals and blood profiles were excellent. A little low on the igf-1. I am a former Ironman Triathlete and Army Ranger so I have discipline when I put my mind to it… just got sidetracked over the last couple years with a new business and Big Macs.
I have started a new regime with the goal to lose 60 lbs over the next six months with a great diet, 5x week cardio, 3x week full body strength program. I have a personal fitness trainer for the strength.
My question is this, IF PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR, would a 200mg Test Cyp (per week), 100mg Deca (per week), and 1.5iu hgh ED would benefit me in terms of recovery? What would you recommend? Thank you in advance.

I wish I could answer Freedog. I’m only taking blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and a boat load of vitamins. I don’t know anything about TRT other than what I read here. There are a lot of smarter guys than me to direct that question. HELLS BELLS if I got on TRT and it increased my sex drive, my wife would divorce me!!!
I’m just a eastern NC swamp rat that is trying to lift his way back into shape.
With your athletic background I have no doubt you will accomplish your goals
Yeah bushidoBadboy, KsMan, and another couple fellas are the wizards of hormone manipulation on this forum. The rest of us are basically somwhat polite though sweaty, meatheads.
I did a complex of snatch pull, military press, squat, good morning, and bent row. My ass is sore from 2 days of lunges. I’ll keep them in for sure!
My weight loss has petered out, or at least leveled off. I’m still eating good, no starches, slow digesting carbs, and lots of lean protein. I’m kind of in a quandary. My waist size continues to shrink as does my big ass, and big ass gut. So should I stay the course with the diet, or adjust the caloric intake? Alas poor Willy, I knew him when he was fat Hortatio. A man of infinite flab and most excellent debauchery. Now he is a changed man and worried he will not change anew.
Boy I need to quit attempting to butcher Shakespeare. But like Ole Yorick; I am pretty much a jester. Of course I’m damn sure no Shakespeare

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are losing inches but staying the same weight, that means your losing fat. Might be a good time to concentrate on measurements rather than the scale. Sounds to me like the diet is still working.

Yeah hel , I have to buy some new britches, but as long as I have an electric drill I can pop new holes in my belt.
Pretty sure I’m a redneck because I carried my fishing pole to Seaworld. It was only recently I realized Sherlock Holmes wasnt a neighborhood in Conetoe. Of course when the Trooper stopped me on the way home from work and asked me If I had any ID; I replied,“'Bout what?”
Lord, I apologize for that right there, and please be with the starvin’ pygmies down there in New Guinea, Amen
