During my self inflicted agony of intervals I had a strange thought. My mind drifted to my late worker, “Dammit Sherman”. I have written about Dammit Sherman before. He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but we had a place for him.
“Sherman are you still getting any from your wife?”
Dammit Sherman replied “Hell yes!”.
The guy asks “Who gets on top? You or your ole’ lady?”
Dammit Sherman laughs, “David you know that big woman isn’t getting on top, she will crush me…”
I do miss Dammit Sherman. It’s amazing what one thinks of during self inflicted sadistic torture… [/quote]
HAAAA!!! Now THAT’S funny!
You should submit “Dammit Sherman” as one of the best ‘man’ names that’s going on in “Get A Life”

Steely, I’m getting like Colin and the others by staying away from the other forums. Sometimes it’s like being in the “Dark Side”
Sherman became Dammit Sherman, because every time he came to me with something just stupid as hell I would start a sentence with “Dammit, Sherman…” I couldn’t help it. As much as I liked the S.O.B, he frustrated the crap out of me 40 times over…
Squat: 5x155x5
Leg Curl: 3x80x10
Leg Ext. 3x70x10
Treadmill Intervals: 15 minutes of y’all know how I love 'em
Not much to report. The wifey has a sinus and ear infection. The young’un wants to go to the fair instead of the wedding (who can blame her) and Willy is trying to maintain his sanity.
Y’all will have a break from me for a day or two I guess. Hell I might not make it back, the way the outlaws drive me crazy. So if I don’t, think of me; and think of me fondly. Have a drink in my honor. Water is fine, beer is good, and really bad whiskey would be best! Please offer this toast in my honor:
May he never grow old
And never get caught
And never desire
What others have got
May he get what he wants
Get what he needs
May he never get what he deserves
Hopefully I’ll see y’all Sunday with a fun chest session post!
Dumbbell bench press: 3x75x10
Bar bell Floor Press: 135x10, 2x185x8
Smith Machine Speed Bench: 4x225x4 15 secs rest
Bent Row: 135x10, 155x10, 2x175x6
Treadmill intervals: hell for 20 minutes
Speed benches went 4 reps with a 15 sec rest and 4 more. I did this for 4 sets. They really whipped me out! I was to lazy to load the bar on the rows. I just added 10# plates. I hate to admit that. The gym was nice at 5:45 a.m. I was all alone to drop dumbbells and bang plates. I guess the 11 year old noise maker in me still rises to the top.
I guess you can tell I survived the wedding gala. All was well, no guns pulled no fights. Danced with the daughter, ate a bad meal and otherwise endured an average time. I didn’t make it to the frat party (my wife saw no fun in that for her). We decided to take the 4 hour ride home and sleep in our own beds.
Dips: BWx10, BW+35x8, BW+35x5
CGP: 135x5, 195x3,195x4,195x3,2x195x4
Triceps cable pushdowns: 3x75x15
Treadmill intervals: 15 minutes of no fun at all
Upped the CGP weight. The set results show it was a challenge. That’s why we do it I guess. All and all, I had a good workout.
Gotta go fight the daily fires of life in the lumber biz. This whole industry really causes me to question my sanity at times. I wonder often if following the footsteps of my parents and grandparents was a smart thing to do. But its the path I have chosen, so be it. The think I have noticed is the training has become the constant. The training relieves the stress. The training sharpens my focus. The training has lowered my weight, bp,and cholesterol. The training I really CAN control, and it has accomplished part of what I hoped when I began this journey almost 50 weeks ago.
So as I sit here and write, I smile at the accomplishments I have made. I plan for the next 52 weeks. Plus I’m getting my mind right to go cuss at a few F%$*ING idiots I keep on the payroll because I’m a nice f%$*ing guy. If my wife wouldn’t divorce me, I’d train twice a day to work off the stress!!
Is there no end to these ass jokes? They are fundamentally unfunny. Butt, to be fair, they may the glute that holds the group together, cheek-to-cheek as it were.

How ASSine can you get. Ass dip= A can of skoal that’s been held between the ass checks when bubbas nekked and needs to use his fingers to count. Damn yankees don’t know nothin useful.
Best avatar ever skid.
Oh yeah, those dips are looking good JW.
Assisted pull-ups: BWx5
Standing dumb bell press: 45x10, 2x45x8
Lat pull downs: 160x10, 2x160x8
Seated Row: 3x150x8
Treadmill Intervals: 17 minutes of not much fun
Typical back day. I guess I need to switch it around some, shake some things up. I suspect I should get to researching. I need to be thinking along Skid’s remark, “If you want a strong front, you need a strong back”
Well life in the forest products industry is going to be ‘interesting’ over the next few months. I suspect I’ll be in the gym more to help offset the challenges of work. I’ll probably over train. I’ll probably test my limits even more. But the fact remains it keeps me sane. I’d rather over train with no real expectations than dip back in the medication. So as much as I am preparing for a worsening of an already challenging industry, I’m preparing for maintaining my body and sanity.
J, try one arm db standing overhead press. Or a one arm clean and press. In a couple weeks I’ll be adding that stuff back into my routine. It adds some variety and can be very difficult.
Machine crunches: 2x40x110, 20x110
Treadmill Intervals: 20 minutes of you know how I love them.
As y’all know today is an off day, burdened toward cardio. The youngun has been home from school with a stomach virus. The wife got her back to school this morning… I hope. I noticed the maples are really starting to change color in the swamps. There is a slight coolness in the air. So unfortunately, Fall is bearing down on eastern NC. According to the weather service there will be a crisp in the air here by week’s end.
Bench Day tomorrow. Hope I can make some progress on the 255 5x5.
