Does it still have the same “fasted cardio” effect mentioned in 100 workouts to a ripped city if you drink whey before?
I just talked to Tampa Terry (resident expert:)) about this same topic over PM and she suggested to take some whey or BCAAs 30 mins before as fasted morning cardio could be extrmeley catabolic.
She said they shot of whey or BCAAs will likely not interfere with the fatburning but definitely save your muscle mass.
This debate is raging all over, on this web site too…
Many experts disagree on it…
I say try it with some whey and BCAAs and see if it differs in a positive way from eating…
AS for me I use just a shake and on my way…
moderate cardio anyways…

I think he’s talking about how good/bad it actually is once you strip away the glitziness of the increased fat loss…sure it works, but at what cost to you physiologically…food for thought for sure…
I’m about to start this on 3 mornings a week…
I’ve heard that it is indeed in general not healthy really to do fasted cardio, but we all know it is effective in fat loss…the question is how much would be allowed in avoiding muscle loss…
personally, I think I'll go with the bcaa's and a single scoop of isolate, and then go for it. it is pretty hard on your system especially HIIT, which is what I'll be doing..
I'm thinking the aminos and whey isolate won't give the body any carbs, but will help a great deal w/muscle loss..
gonna start with prob 5-6 mins. of workload, with a warm up/cool down too..go up to 20 mins workload as it comes along..30sec sprint/30sec mellow, on the bike out on the trail..
I'd hate to take a dive on my treadmill under a full sprint, so I'll be going psycho on my cannondale..
Hey, if you keep this thread going, I'll chime back in and let you know how it works for me..
best,
ToneBone

Disagree on weather or not fasted cardio is best for fat loss, some go so far as to say you only burn muscle and little fat…
Charles Poliquin hates the whole fasted cardio altogether…
Christian Thibaudeau talks about the pros and cons of fasted cardio…
Chad Waterbury the same more or less as thib…
