Farmer's Log 2

Great work big fella!

Nice squatting, and farmer walks up the hill. I’m glad to see you doing all that running up the hill, I can enjoy your pain without feeling it.

wow

They were closer to sprints than walks my friend…way closer!!! Awesome work!

Yea, those were sprints. Wish I had a hill on the base to sprint.

I have nothing to say but feel compelled to add some awesome to this oplace, because I haven’t done so in awhile.

yes they were sprints. i’m kinda glad that i can’t do them. still, i bet you can practically see the fat melt off.

Thoe were hill sprints for sure.

How do you walk with those big brass balls. Nice hill sprints FB.

Thanks for the comments on the DB hill “things”. I still think they were too slow to be called sprints, but if you good folks think they were then that’s good enough for me.

Back squats @ 346.5 lbs x 5-5

Leg Curls @ 100 lbs x 7-7-7

Weighted Push Ups @ 44 lbs x 15-15-15 (supersetted with) EZ Curls @ 93.5 lbs x 8-8-8

Ab Rollouts (off knees) x 8-8-8

Squats were OK. Don’t think I’ve got a hope in hells chance of doing two sets of 5 with 390 in 3 weeks time, but we will see.

Started weighting the push ups. I’ve been doing the standard push ups quickly and quite explosively and have been guilty of “snapping” my elbows a bit and they’ve started complaining. The extra weight slowed me down which is a good thing, did them slower with greater control.

I won’t tell my wife that my “must have” bumper plates are only being used for push ups right now. Don’t think that would go down too well. I WILL start snatching again, but my shoulder still doesn’t like them at the moment.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I am a better programme “follower” than an “instinctive” lifter. If a programme tells me I have to do x amount of reps with x amount of weight, I will bust a nut to achieve it, however if following my own “plan” I will faff about and not get anywhere. All my best progress has come from struggling to achieve pre-written targets calculated from percentages. Maybe when we write our own programmes we don’t force ourselves to struggle enough?

All my callouses are very painful at the moment. Think they’re all about to come off.

Squats and push ups.

Good work Brett, the hardest thing seems to be to write your own program. My best lifting has come when someone who knew my lifts wrote my workouts. Didn’t have to think, just lifted.

I will peep your videos later
Very solid training
Weight hill sprint are crazy nice work

Hey Brett nice push ups/ superset.
German I now what you mean about someone else planning your workouts, thats why I liked Crossfit, you just log in and workout, really liked Crossfitfootball workouts. I would still be doing them if I had more time.

German, Kevin, dude - Thanks.

Catching up.

Bike Ride - 6.5 miles, up mountain and back. 33 minutes.

Asthma kicked in today. Haven’t had any sign of it for ages. Was working hard, but I think it was more to do with it being hot and the air was very dry. No bigee, just wheezed for a while afterwards.

Bike Ride - 13 miles Around Swansea bay from Mumbles head to the docks and back again. (see pic). Leisurely ride with my wife who is just getting back in to cycling. What with the weather and scenery it could have been the south of France.

Shoulder warm up circuit

Band Pull Aparts x 20
Band Dislocates x 20 (twice through, no rest)

Barbell Bench Press @ 242 lbs x 5-5

Standing DB Press @ 54.7 lb’ers x 10-10-8

Pushdowns @ 93 lbs x 10-10-10-10

Face pulls @ 66 lbs x 10-10-10

Band Ext Rotations (each arm) x 10-10-10-10

Switched pushdowns from an elbows tucked in, hands out in front style to elbows flared, hands close to body way (think upright row in reverse) because I irritated my elbow tendons last week and I am starting to listen to my body and try and prevent injuries before they happen. The weight has become too heavy to do them that way. I will have to up the poundage because they were too easy tonight.

Bench was alright. Not too taxing yet. Next 3 weeks are 253, 264 and 275 for 2 sets of 5. Yeah right!!! Most I’ve ever done with 275 is a double.

I’m enjoying this Coan peaking cycle, it’s building nicely, slowly but surely. Things are starting to get challenging, but I’m not losing sleep worrying about weights yet.

I saw your vids- the squats looked excellent- as did the pushups

I like the loaded pushups allot.

I do my own programming- its more fun but the progress is slower,
and im never sure if I am hitting the things I need to work on more.

In college the blind following of a coaches program was kind of nice
had decent results with 531 but was bored to tears

had more fun and better results from defranco and cressey

looks like an idyllic ride

beautiful picture! and good for you to listen before injury

i’m sure you will get back to using your must have bumper plates. sounds like you are doing the wise thing of making sure your shoulder is better before thinking about that, though. glad to hear you are enjoying and progressing on your program.

Smart, smart training…wish I was that smart! Nice place for a bike ride

Brett–asthma might be pollen related if you are at all susceptible, although past the peak for me (grasses) something is making me sneeze.n.wheeze a little.
