Kev - OK I’ll tweet you the pictures but, PLEASE stop pestering me for more ‘candid’ ones. It’s not gonna happen.
KP - It’s a counted 6 seconds so it might actually be less, but it feels long enough. You should definitely try the BSSs, challenging for the legs without involving the back. I tend to be quite closed minded (yeah I know, hard to believe ) so I wasn’t expecting much from them, I tend to think that if it’s not squatting it’s not proper leg training, but I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe this is my mid-life crisis? experimenting with new stances and exercises?

Didn’t really want to do it today, but I forced myself. Now at least I can flake out tonight without any guilt.
Filmed my squat so I could time my eccentric. It was nearer 5 seconds than 6 TBH so I extended it to make sure it was 6.
*I happened to lose count on the set I was filming (lucky, or maybe that was what ditracted me) that’s how I know I did an extra rep. If I lose count I always do an extra 1 or 2 just to be sure. I don’t let myself get away with anything.
Because the push ups and pull ups are starting to take a while, I did them inbetween squat sets like a circuit (squats - push ups - pull ups - squats). It got me sucking wind let me tell you. I had that hollow feeling in my stomach like I get when I do hill sprints.
Used the BSS as a finisher.
Didn’t lift tonight. Been lugging furniture all day.

Thats just another symptom of getting old brett…forgetting how many sets and reps…i do just the same and still cant’t work out what i did when i get home !!.
That circuit is a killer–doing this at least once a week as ‘rounds’ of squat, chins and press ups…seems like a great conditioning circuit.
I’m doing a ‘vanity’ routine right now to try and get buff for the beach LOL. I’m working my arms a lot because I think they’re disproportionatley small and my legs because IMO bigger legs make your waist look smaller.
Despite losing fat slowly but surely from my waist (I’m starting to see ab definition without having to flex, yay, haven’t seen them since I was 19 or 20) my waist still looks quite wide and blocky to me. Think I might have to have some ribs removed.
The conditioning effect from the workout, which was considerable, was just an added bonus!
OG and Matty - Maybe I’ve mislead you slightly, they’re not exactly collecting lint and I’m in no danger of losing small change in them yet but, I can see them if the lighting is just right and the wind is in the right direction.
Managed to use DBs on the split squats for the first time. Balance is still the biggest challenge for me on these, especially on my left leg, but I do like them.
Think I’m going to start cranking up the weight on the slow eccentric squats so I can tax myself and get the job done in fewer reps. Puff is quickly becoming my limiting factor on this workout, but I don’t want to increase rest intervals because that will take my workout time to an hour and a half. Right now I can just get it in under the hour.
dday - I think the BSSs are a lot like pistols, most people have the leg strength, the difficult bit is staying upright while doing them. I’m getting better at them but, I still do them in the rack so I have something to grab on to when I lose balance to stop myself from faceplanting.
KP - Damn my stupid claims. How am I going to avoid putting my money where my mouth is? I know, I’ll look up some ‘Rogue Vampire’ threads and find out how he does it.
James - Curls are definitely on the agenda. I’m just too knackered to do any after doing all my pull ups.
BN - I was thinking more along the lines of a mankini or thong. What were they wearing in the south of France this year? I don’t want to look out of place.

Well…we were ‘naturist’ so…nothing basically.
Did have to wear shorts and shoes in the gym though !!
BN - I should hope so too. I wouldn’t want to see some nude guy on the abductor/adductor machine.
KP - Is it the colour?

10 mile bike ride - Not long, but had some nasty little hills in it. Real steep. I tried to keep up with my wife, who has an electric bike. I could cope easily on the flats, but I had to work pretty hard to stay with her on the hills.

Still increasing on the push ups and pulls up. In fact I’m having to stop myself from increasing by too many each day. The more I do the better my shoulders are feeling. Keeping on the lookout for the dreaded elbow tendonitis, but so far all is well. My pull up PR a few weeks back was 7. I think I could knock out 10 sets with that now, so it seems to be working. Enjoying this routine.
Squats felt good too. The slow eccentric seems to be making my knees feel good.
