James - I decided to alternate simply because my knees are feeling a bit creaky right now. It doesn’t seem to be affected by frequency, volume or weight. They just go through phases of feeling great and not so great.

Didn’t lift yesterday because I had one of my allergy days. Spent all day coughing and sneezing with a runny nose. By the evening my nose was blocked and my head was all congested, so gave it a miss.

Much better today.

Squats (6 second eccentric + explosive concentric)

220 lbs x 6-6-6-6

Bulgarian Split Squats (bw) x 8-8-8 (each leg)

Push Ups (bw) x 25-25-25-20-15-10 (120 total)

supersetted with

Pull Ups (bw) x 6 sets of 5 reps (30 total)

Did the slow eccentric squats because my knees are playing up ATM (wanted to keep them light) and my squat workouts just don’t seem to be hitting my legs how I would like. Just don’t seem to get sore anymore and I like to be sore (Yes I do know that soreness is not a good indicator of anything). I think these will do the job. I’ll know in the morning.

Never tried Bulg. Split Squats before. I liked them. Started with 22 lb DBs but, it became immediately apparent that no extra weight would be needed LOL. Balance was all over the shop and it was a bit uncomfortable on my back foot, but I’ll get used to it. Shocking discrepancy between R and L legs. Left was so much weaker. I think these will be a keeper.

Solid work. I’ve noticed a difference between my legs for strength too. I suppose that’s the point of unilateral work.

There is a surprising and disappointing lack of HIGH rep squats in here!!! And I curse you for doing Bulgarian Split Squats…I know I should been doing those and don’t want to cause they remind me hw sucky I am…Curse you

Viz was almost mandatory reading material on the icu where i worked at the time.

I am sure that the fat slags were inspired by some characters on union street (plymouths ‘entertainment’ zone).

Favourite character : Roger Melly, i was briefly known as roger for saying ‘bollocks’ so often.

James - My logic is that if my left leg is much weaker, if I get it as strong as my right, my squat should go up, right?

OG - Bulg. split squats are my new best friend, but they’re real humbling. I struggle on them with no weight!

BN - My favourite bit was the letters page and the Top Tips. “Fool people into thinking you have a gravel driveway by sticking Rice Krispies into the tread of your car tyres” was one I seem to remember.

Well I wanted some quad soreness and I certainly got my wish. Limped around all weekend. I could feel every flex of my quads when I walked. Loved it!!

Squat (6 sec eccentric and explosive concentric) x 220 lbs x 5 sets of 6 reps

Bulg. Split Squats x bw x 3 sets of 8 reps each leg

Push Ups x bw x 25-25-25-20-20-10 (125 reps) supersetted with

Pull Ups x bw x 6-6-5-5-5-5 (32 reps)

Face Pulls x 44 lbs x 20-20

The BSS were a million times better this time mainly due to improved balance. I think I can add DBs next time.

I spread the push ups and pull ups throughout the workout to alleviate the boredom. Started with 2 sets of each, then 2 more sets between the squats and BSS and finished up with 2 sets at the end.

I’ve always done chin ups so I’m shit at pull ups, but they are really coming on nicely.

As the volume of push ups and pull ups goes up I might have to start doing some sets in the morning or throughout the day.
