Tell me who does casual conversation better than Family guy. The speech patterns the way they stutter when saying certain words and the random flash backs are totally original.

I forgot about that. Never before have I seen jokes involving speech like that.
Like when Peter was shopping for that really fat chick:
“A desk of cheese? What is this? A desk? How- I can’t even- a desk?!?!”

OK, you stay here, and I’ll go get you… a hammock of cake.
HAHAHA I actually found it!
How is this not the funniest shit ever? What could this possibly be ripping off?
HAHAHA!!!
“Where are you getting these units of measurement from?”
This is clearly a rip off of Steve Martin’s 1986 Saturday Night Live appearance where he once said “hammock” in an unrelated joke that had NOTHING at all to do with a super fat “227” star’s weight…which means they copied it…sort of.

Oh…Shit, I laughed so hard at that scene. I just laughed out loud just now reading it and remembering Peters reaction.

I don’t think they were copied, I know it.It’s not a joke, it’s multiple jokes, over and over. Look man, I’ve presented my case, and it’s a damn good one. If you want to look past the facts have at it. I’m done here.
What case? What facts?
The only people I usually see hate on Family Guy are the ones who don’t get most of the jokes. Hell Family Guy did an episode where Stewie RUNS DOWN Homer Simpson and Peter comes out and says: “Who the hell is that guy?”. I think they are well aware of the (inevitable) parallels drawn by people who look for a reason to bitch and moan.
Don’t get it? There’s nothing to get. It’s obscure pop culture references and jokes that run on longer than they should to fill up plot holes and dead space in the story. Getting Family Guy has nothing to do with intellect.
If you can get a fart joke or a randome “celebrity” appaearance you’ve pretty much milked everything that Family Guy as is has to offer. Everything else is borrowed.
Is that a Youtube video…OF a Youtube video?
haha, I found that a little odd, as well.
I actually don’t have any problem with Family Guy. I mean, I don’t consider it to be a show that you have to be “somewhat intelligent” to “get” (though a grasp of outdated pop-culture is pretty necessary), and I, personally, don’t think it’s as well written as South Park, but I usually watch it when I stumble across it and make time for episodes I haven’t seen.
FWIW, I happen to think Stewie is better when he’s flaming.
I don’t remember a Simpson’s episode where they beat each others’ asses like this.
(adds fuel to the fire…)
And all those generic scenes were in some other television program long before the Simpsons or Family Guy, not that it really matters. Anyone with half a brain knows there’s very little on TV that’s truly original today.
