5/6
Yesterday was the first annual Wright Challenge Judo tournament.
I forgot that this tournament was on my schedule, until the kids at the club reminded me Monday night. So I took this past week as a deload and did what I could to get ready for the competition. I didn’t do too badly. I came in 3rd out of 4. The 1st and 2nd place winners were twin brothers who hold 5th degree black belts and had 40-50 pounds on me. I either need to drop weight so I can make the next lower division 10-15 pounds, or gain weight so I’m not the lightest guy in my division anymore.
Today’s workout 5/7
Overhead Press 5 @ 95/ 5 @ 105/ 5 @ 115
Dumbbell bench press 5 x10 @ 45 lbs each.
5 wide grip pull ups/ 4 neutral grip pulls up/4 chin ups/ 3 wide grip pull ups
upright row 3x10 @ 45 lbs
30 knees to elbows on the floor
Then 2.5 hours of judo mainly falling for the little kids and coaching the older ones.
On Monday I did something to my low back, so I decided not to do the deadlift portion of my workout. I also didn’t do Judo Wednesday.
Today’s Workout:
Bench Press 5 @ 135 Lbs/ 5 @ 160 Lbs/ 5 @ 180 Lbs
Dumbbell Military Press 5 x10 @ 30 Lbs (This was an eye opener I’m really weak on my left side. I will keep this in the program for a while.)
Bent over Barbell row 3x10 @115 lbs (My back actually felt much better after that)
Dumbbell Pullover 3x10 @ 35 Lbs.
