He could’ve ran away, grabbed her arms and held her, or even just given her a shove if he really felt he was in danger.
I tend to find few circumstances where it is truly necessary for a man to strike a woman. Especially given it was his wife, and not some crazy lady on the street.

I’ve known cops who’ve had to deal with them. They always resist arrest and their weapon of choice tends to be tractors or backhoes.

I’m a little torn. I’ve never struck a woman but I’ve never had one hit me either. I mean little slaps on the arm or something but never like a full on punch.
It doesn’t hurt my feelings to see women attempting to legitimately assault a man have some sense knocked in to them.
I didn’t really follow the Dana story though. Was his wife attacking him or did he just hit her because she was acting shitty or something?
She looked upset about something and started to walk away. He grabbed her arm and she turned and slapped him. He then started to slap the shit out of her and if there weren’t people there to break it up, it looked like he would have continued to beat on her. From what I remember after she slapped him, she tried to continue walking away but he held onto her arm and then wailed on her. I’m not saying it’s right that she hit him, but it looked like it was done because she wanted him to let go of her. He should have let her walk away.
