I’m an 18 yr old male. I appear to be have random testosterone fluctuations that are out of the ordinary especially for my age. On some days, I’d describe myself as ambitious, confident, and quite a go-getter. This will last usually between 1 and 3 days.
Then I feel the energy draining out of me over like 5 hours; I lose all ambition, confidence, and end up just sitting around without even enough motivation to leave my dorm room so that I can eat a decent meal at the dining hall (which is just across the street). I’m really confused and kinda concerned about what this might be. Could it be strangely fluctuating testosterone levels? What would cause that?
I am 45 years old btw so I have some experience at life . I remember when I was 18 - lots of emotional fluctuations during that time . First off the odds of you situation being caused by T levels fluctuating are very low . It sounds like a typical case of depression . This is a common pattern for this illness , a few great days followed by low days beyond regular lows. Depression is a chemical imbalance and studied in depth by drs . It can be treated successfully with a full recovery by using rx medication . Low T can definatly cause depression but generally it is not the case . Go see a doctor and get the medicine that will allow you to get on living life in a healthy mood . Btw I speak from experience on both low T and general depression .

Thanks for the reply. And, ya that’s kinda what Im afraid of. Though I’m leaning more toward cyclothymia because the highs seem a bit out there too.
