Experts the Media & Idiocy

I love the tabata method for conditioning, especially for martial arts conditoning, fat loss and the like

nice well laid out Tabata primer by t-nations Dan John.

I remember seeing Tabata method being mention on the BBC, i thought this is really cool some main stream exposure, but they did the whole “10 minute workout works for the japanese can it work for you?” angle, and for commentary they had Diana Moran, WAIT WHAT?

Diana Moran the same diana moran that used to prance around on TV in the mornings do exercises in a stupid green leotard. when asked if it works she said “no, 10 minutes just isnt long enough, to lose fat you need to work the aerobic pathway” what the hell! some one pull her ass out of the 1980’s and hand her some scientific journals.

“40 minutes working the aerobic pathway, is whats is needed” wait it gets better.

Reporter “so why does it work for the japanese”, “well i suppose its because they are quick people, with quick lifstyles”. “they probably eat less too”

Quick people! Quick people what the hell are you talking about, she obviously has’nt looked at how the method works, she taken it face value probably while sitting in make up, “oh a 10 minute work out, that cant possibly work”.
Well done BBC, well done you had a chance to tout a really good training method for weight loss and fitness and your choice of “expert” shoots it down in a ball of flames in 3 sentences

Like i tell my athletes Tabata method needs to balls to the wall pace, it needs to fast and furious.

Anyone come across other so called “experts” in a media situation, where you just feel like throwing your protein shake at the TV/magazine/article/person in question.

Ahahaha! That’s awesome.

Seriously, though, time actually passes more quickly for Japanese people. When it looks to us like they’re doing 10 minutes of high intensity sprinting, they’re actually getting in 40 minutes of brisk walking. Amazing, I know, but true nonetheless. Think about it. Why are ninjas so much quicker than you? It’s the only explanation.

Nope

Not at all.

Me either

She’s right. You have quick people, and you have thick people.

They should have taken that chick through a workout first. How can she know if she hasn’t tried it?

Really. I’m gonna try them. I was the bodyweight exercise king for a while. I’ve done about 650 BW squats without stopping, so I’m interested to see how much pain these tabatas are going to cause me.

They’re awesome. All of my clients who’ve done them rate them as the hardest method bar none.

Is it just my sick mind or does it look like Suzanne is about to get ravaged from behind by that funky contraption?

I think it’s sneaking up on her when she isn’t looking…

Yes, they were pretty hard. I did thrusters, with 25’s, and they were hard as hell. by the 6th set, I switched to 20,s and rested about 17 seconds iunstead of 10, but to compensate for that, I added an extra set. My quads got sore within an hour. Not to make excuses, but my shoulders were burnt from yesterday’s workout, so the next time I think I will be able to use the 25 or 30’s all the way.

I like her 1980’s ass. It was perkier back then.

Try being a gamer. The facts that a 50-year old Jack Thompson is considered an “expert” on video games gives me an anuerism.
