I have been training for 2 years. It has been very strange for me, because the first year I ate only once a day, no protein whatsoever, worked just chest and biceps, and had no muscle. A year ago I decided to read up on stuff, and finally decided to take it seriously. I have been training with squats (200x10), deadlift (315x8), and bench (205x6). I dumbell chest press 95 x4, dumbell shoulder press 75x6, chinup x 10 with 45 lb dumbell, cable row 200x5, barbell shoulder press 145x6, cable pulldown (closegrip) 250x5.
My weight gain was incredibly strange. I stayed at 172 until i took creatine, all of sudden weight jumped to 180! in one day!!. I got off creatine, took a break, and took it again… again another jump! from 180 to 188!!! This weight was not water weight because its been 8 months since I used creatine, and I am still at 188 lbs. My measurements are (all flexed)-- arm:15’, chest:45’,waist:34’, thigh:34’, calf:15’,shoulders 50’,forearm:12’. I had never had a sixpack, I am 5’11 188 lbs with about 13% bodyfat. I been reading tons of books, journals, research about bodybuilding… yet I feel like I haven’t been training right. Please look at my stats and tell me if you had something similiar when you started working out. I am pretty young… 20, but would like to know if bodybuilding is a journey and it takes yearS of hard training to achieve a good body, or is it indeed possible to make incredible gains in only one or two years. Thanks.
how many meals do you eat a day now? better be more than one…
Your post neglected the most important information of all when it comes to bodybuilding and building muscle…and that is this: what are you eating? All the training in the world won’t do squat if you don’t eat properly for gaining mass.
8 pounds in a day is pretty freaky, unless you weighted yourself in different times of the day, for example in the morning I can weigh about 4 pounds less then in the afternoon (mostly due to water and eating). Anywho
“is it indeed possible to make incredible gains in only one or two years” yes it is especially in the begining years, but you won’t look like Arnold either till you invest years of hard work, have proper genetics, eat right, reast right etc etc not to mention a bit of roids.
How can your waist measurement be the same as your thigh measurement (I assume you have two legs:))? Also, 15" flexed arms and calves at 188 seems a bit small; you might want to specialize on those for a while. Then again, you might very well have underestimated your bodyfat, so your lean mass could be less than you reported (and, in turn, girth measurements would be appopriate). Also, you weigh yourself first thing in the morning on an empty stomach every time, right?
Suppl I agree with Eric, your leg measurements or bodyfat must be wrong. I’m 5’11" 185 12% with slightly larger arms an 26" quads, and I have pretty large quads for my size. Is your last name Platz by any chance? Also I don’t think it is possible to gain 8lbs in one day, even water weight. Creatine does not work that quickly. Did the second eight pounds also come in one day? If you say yes you are full of shit. Even with chemical assistance you couldn’t do it. You also did this without protein. Hey I’m no Physiology expert but ya ain’t gonna build muscle without protein. What’s your idea of no protein? Even some veggies have protein. How about the real story?
Oh I think it’s definately possible to have bigger quads then waist. In my first year of training I was doing some serious squats 2x a week, sometimes 3x. And the last time I did the T-dawg diet, when I was at 205, I had a 29" waist and my legs were 31" around.
If your gonna make a diet, do it right…Think about what ur gonna need…protein, calcium, vitamins and u might need something to boost you up(mayb some hydroxycut, used only for energy)…Now think. your gonna work out right? so your gonna need food to build muscle, obiously u didnt gain muscle because u didnt eat as much fat as u needed, ur gonna need a good source of protein to build muscle too. vitamins are also gonna help you build and keep healthy at the same time…something like centrum preformence, o and ive only been training for about 7 months and im built(i was all fat before, muscular now) so im just showing you how your 2 years went to waste from not thinking about your body and thinking more about what u want.
