So the fire alarm in my apartment building goes off at 2:30 am this morning. I’m starving so I put some pants on and stagger to my car to make a pilgrimage to McDonalds. I order some nuggets and a small diet coke and go to hand my debit card to the cashier. She tells me they turn off their debit machines at 3 am and they only take cash.

So I look at her incredulously and half asleep and say something stupid like “uh what”. She goes Shhh and hands me the bag and a LARGE diet coke. Free food and a drink upgrade. You’re thinking this can’t possibly get any more awesome, right? Well you’d be wrong. As I’m digging around for my nuggets I find not one but TWO free apple pies.

Best day of my life.

Oh I heart this song! Wicked sad though.

Look at 460, sounding all grown up and poetic.

Mornin’ TK. I’m up, but not truly awake. Going to work through lunch today so we can take off for the holiday. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. But then there’s basketball this afternoon, and party time tonight and tomorrow. Going to be a good, relaxing next few days if I can just make it through 2pm CST today.

HERE WE GO.

hahaha.

Had a false alarm at the hospital last night. It was a labor trial run.

likeaboss.jpeg

Wife went straight to hospital, I coordinated my SIL to come watch the dog and the boy, my MIL to come pack my wife’s bag while I walked the dog, and I got to the hospital with plenty of time to spare.

Nurse said I was the calmest father to be she has ever seen.

I’m ready for this shit.

5" of snow… so far…

Beans- Nice work, soldier.

Great job.

Know that if she goes into pre-term labor, you can always do vodka shots with her to halt contractions.

j/k.

not really.

That is a great day! Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is better than free food!

You know you’ll have to do something extra, special nice for someone now…

or else.

Well done Beans!

I always thought that when women went “into labor” they didn’t REALLY go into labor for like another 13 hours later…

Like, do women ever go into labor and then all of sudden sploosh baby?

Annie?s Chicken Pot Pie

1/2 cup margarine (or butter if you aren?t worried about your arteries)
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup milk
2 cups cut up chicken (I use all white meat)
Vege’s. I add peas (as many as you like) and I pre- cook (boil) a couple of carrots and potatoes in small pieces (again, as much as you want to add)

Heat margarine over low heat until melted. Blend in flour, onion, s&p. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat. Stir in broth and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in chicken and veges. I throw the peas in frozen,

Place pie-crust in 9in. pie pan. Pour in mixture. Cover with other sheet of pie crust, pinch the edges so it doesn’t boil out. Cut a few slits in the top crust. Cook uncovered at 425 degrees. until crust is brown. 30-35 minutes.

Sure, there are lots of births that last only 3 hours from beginning to end. Many times, there are extenuating circumstances with these, however, like maternal cocaine use, etc. But it’s definitely possible.

My kids’ mom had the opposite experience. Her water broke and she wasn’t in labor. Then the clock starts…

My mother, five kids, labor times:

6 hours, 3 hours, 90 minutes, 45 minutes, 30 minutes. Seriously. 4’10", 90 lbs, and she could squirt babies out her vagina all day.

With my older sister, the Dr had mom drink screwdrivers for a while to halt pre-term labor…'splains a lot.

^ HAHAHAH!

Seriously I need the name of that Dr.

Also your mother is teeny!

I fear childbirth like I fear the wrath of god :frowning:
