(disclaimer I am hella weak at squating I’ve only been doing real squats for a coupla months)

So, I’m training in 8-15 rep range for 5 sets.
I’ve been squating 95LBS and last workout hit the max reps 95x15 x5 sets

So next workout I get to go heavier and back down to the bottom of my rep range 8 reps x 5 sets
Would it be too much to go for 115x8x5?

what say TK?
I think 115 is a good target weight, just stick to form and dont worry about hitting the most reps. With the size of the junk in your trunk (which is a good thing) you will be hitting PR very easy and quickly.
I hope so!
Will go for 115 on Saturday then.

I am most careful with my form! Not quite ATG every rep I’ll admit but always below parallel.
I think that was my problem, going too fast. I got to 135 x 2 and then bam! Got injured, stopped going to the gym during winter (combo of being sick often and starting work), and now I can barely do 10 x 65 and reach parallel on the last couple of reps. Definitely take it slow and work your way up. Breaking that 100 lb mark is always a HUGE achievement, IMO, so if you do 105, 110, or 115, you’re still doing awesome!
Thanks Grny… I’ll be careful.
I feel like I can do the 115x8x5 but if I feel form suffer I’ll peel ten off.

Did I srsly miss beltane? I mean, not like I’m a pagan, and not like I’m getting laid anyways… just seems like the perfect opportunity to complain bout NOT getting laid.

ha! see what I did there?

While that is important, my thought is more with back arch, triangle up top etc. Squat is all about form, you can get injuried very quickly when the weight starts to get heavy. Take it from a guy who herniated three discs in my back due to losing form and just pressing through. Just my .02 when you are building the foundation dont get cheap concrete. This is the time you really work on always doing the same thing on form every time. good luck
back arch got it
traingle up top got it
will be most diligent!!!

Also make sure and keep your knees out. NO that is not a sexual reference. That is Edgy’s job.

LOL!

That was pretty good.

I can’t even come up with anything remotely funny in return.

Ummm…no one. We got some liquor, went to dinner at Carraba’s, came home, had a drink, watched a movie, and went to bed. I think you’re thinking of Friday night.

I guess that’s what i’ll have to do from now on, Hal.

I thought the 30’s were supposed to be a time where the sex drive gets a boost… not Alzheimer’s.
