I’ve had to push through sore biceps many times. Totally sucks. Sometimes the first set will loosen it enough to get me through the rest but sometimes it doesn’t.

Hmm, I didn’t even train my biceps directly though. I guess I need to man up.
Manning up is what jacks a person up so much they can’t train for a week. I think you know what’s best for your body. Well I don’t train mine directly either…

eh thats ok,. I hate doing biceps. Where are they going to help my bench, sqaut, or deadlift?
Then again when people (and by people I mean ladies) find out I workout they first thing they ask is to see my biceps. The second is to see my abs. The latter pisses me off because often enough a nearby guy will try to show me up by lifting his shirt to reveal his 125lb frame with 10% bf. Sure he has abs but not enough of them to do anything with them.
Just remember Tate didnt do direct arm work either, and his guns are pure steel.

I usually train them directly with a set or two every week, just not while I’m cutting, to save some volume.

So, I shouldn’t rip my shirt off and yell before doing a set?

I’m not gonna lie, I’ll probably ask to see your arms and abs just to see your shirt off ![]()
On a less creepy note, I hate training biceps too. One of the things I have to force myself to do. That and abs. Which I gotta do soon actually… ugh.
That will be enough of the “anti-arm work” talk… And I’m pretty sure you don’t do board presses for you pecs, etc etc etc.
The fact that the dude from 300 did the movie “The Ugly Truth,” and there is no blood, gore, killing or kicking of messengers into wells, is really upsetting.

You could just challenge those 125lb folks to a boxing match. Problem solved.

Gerard Butler… he was hot in both, I don’t care ![]()
I thought the only guys who did direct biceps were the ones doing curls in the squat rack? Gee, I’ve never asked a guy to see his biceps or abs…I usually ask how much they deadlift haha
No…Gerard Butler is not hot in cheesy romantic comedies…

It’s good to have some backup in the great arm debate. Direct arm work doesn’t hurt anyone, no reason to avoid it if you want better looking arms.

Either that or learn how to use the intended target muscles. ![]()

I retract my back up statement beans.

No, people who want big arms are teh ones who do direct work.
Also people who don’t want muscle imbalances that hold back other lifts and cause injury work all their muscle groups.
Since Obi Wan is here, when I did some practice rack pulls yesterday, Beans, I definitely felt more in my hammies which “seems” to be the objective. I’m going to vid them again this week after practicing (bar only, 135s). I was definitely not focusing on my glutes enough when doing the pull.
