For the OP, try putting towels or something on the floor to dampen the vibratrions from the clanging metal.

I used to always get bitched at by some fat female employee at the rec center for DLing without shoes on because I “might drop the weight on my feet.” lolll how would you even do that doing deadlift in the conventional style? Dumb.
I do admit I get a little pissed off at the employees who tell me not to drop my weights, make noise or silly things like that when they look like they’ve never worked out in their lives. I really think if you work on the FITNESS floor you should at least be required to workout, jesus. You’re going to make noise when you are lifting heavy things.
I usually just explain myself to the manager later and then I get to do what I want. I’m the only one in there allowed to have a shake throughout my workout, everyone else is only allowed water. HAHHHHHH!
lol i always think the shoes thing is retarded. If you drop a 100lb weight on your foot is a shoe really going to stop the impact that much

I’m pretty sure anything from around 10 lbs or greater dropped from say 4 feet right onto your foot is going to fuck it up regardless of if you’re wearing shoes or not lol. So yes, I agree with you.

When I worked at a gym in undergrad, a 25lb plate got knocked off the bar by a careless patron as I was cleaning up, it fell on my foot…holyshitfuckingballs it hurt, and that was with a shoe on. It makes no difference the higher up you go in weight.

They probably have this policy more for hygiene and just used the excuse of liability and injury.
Cause there are some funky mother fuckers out there with fucked up fungal infected, MRSA infected feet running all over the floor and touching equipment.

LOL I know hobbit foot, but with the weight you lift you squish that fungus out through the sock.

Can you put a bumper plate at the end of the bar?

I’m honestly surprised I’ve never been kicked out of the L.A. Fitness I go to. I don’t have a membership there yet I still work out there nearly every day of the week. I know many will think what I’m doing is terrible but honestly I don’t give a fuck. If you can get away with it then why not? For 2 years, every day, I walk in and say “hey man, I work here as a lifeguard, is it alright if I just go in?” Every time they say yes, to the point where they actually think I work there.
Yes it is terrible, and as a part owner of a gym if I ever found out about something like this I would have you arrested for trespassing. You are a thief and the fact that you are so pleased with yourself for it makes you a huge, weeping vag.
Oh and nothing wrong with Trap dead lifts…more quad intensive…the strength coach at our D1 university here uses them almost exclusively, he believes it puts his players in a more athletic body position.
