Ever Been Kicked Out of a Gym?

Never been kicked out, have kicked out people when I worked at a gym. Even kicked out professors when I worked at a college gym.

You should definitely elaborate on kicking out professors haha.

^ I remember one time it was for giving me and another staffer attitude. So out.

Another had the tendency to “spot” people whether that asked for one or not, and then spot in a dangerous manner. Tossed him out a couple of times for that, got him banned from the facility when his “spot” lead to an injury.

is there really a thread about dropping 480? i know weight is relative but c’mon. you really don’t have to drop it. if its getting their panties all twisted up, don’t drop the weight. i used to go to a gym where they let me use chalk and without fail i always wiped it up when done - bar and floor. be thankful that they have a fucking trap bar and try not to insult their sensitivities. either that or find another gym.
I’m not trying to sound like a tough guy. 475 for a set of 8 is hard for me… we all have to start somewhere?

I didn’t drop the weight. It tapped the floor between each rep and apparently that was enough to piss him off. The sad part is this is the most “hardcore” gym in my area.
I wasn’t belittling your weight. It’s very respectable. But it doesn’t require dropping. Tapping is altogether different than dropping. If it’s tapping he’s twisted about, ignore the motherfucker and carry on.

Deadlift with a barbell. Problem solved.
X2 … and if you cant control it down then its probably too heavy for you. There is a reason you cant just release the bar at the top portion of a DL in a PL comp. Dont be a DBag, people who slam weights are annoying. And no it has nothing to do with going heavy I know plenty of people who are DLing more than that and dont feel the necessity to slam the bar.

ps If i ever meet you im going to round house kick you in the neck

You should do everyone a favor and read the thread before you post stupid shit. I already mentioned above that I DO deadlift with a barbell… I use the trap bar about every 6 weeks as an accessory exercise.

I also mentioned that I did not drop the weight. I tapped it off the floor between reps. The weight was completely under control the entire set.

Are you getting your period? Most people like to limit their round house kicks to the face to something a bit more heinous than loud weights.

…OR maybe he really is getting his period. and I’m not talking light spotting. I’m talking full, heavy deep bleeding, laced with the loosening of surrounding skin, creting a red, filmy substance, making it difficult to concentrate or enjoy life on lifes terms.

That’s what midol and a heating pad is for.

lol i love inciting arguements on T-Nation its the coolest thing in the world.

You guys should realize it is an online forum so its ok to joke around i promise.

I do highly doubt a gym manager is getting upset about him “tapping the floor” versus “slamming” the weight like so many people do.

but hey GJ at being so affected by my post. Ill send out autographs if you pm me your emails

I do deadlift with a barbell. I do the trap bar variation about once every 6 weeks because it really hammers my upper back.
To be honest I would just scrap the trap bar man. It’s a very easy exercise and after a while, impossible to challenge yourself with due to the limited amount of weight you can get on there. Stick to deads, squats & oly lifts.

I have been kicked out and banned from a gym (a crap one thankfully) for getting into a fist fight with another gym member.
I was doing deadlifts on the only platform when some scumbag comes up to me and asks me how long I will be. I told him I have quite a few sets to do but that he could work in with me if he wanted to. Anyway, while I was resting between a set, the guy walks up to the bar and starts pulling all the weights off!! I told him to put them back on and it spiralled from there into a full on fight in the middle of the gym. Luckily the gym was shite and I only planned to use it for a month due to travel.

I approve of your wordsmith-iness.

I own the place do it dies t matter, but since I own the place I don’t drop weights wtc. The loudest exercise for me is suitcase deadlifts. I bang them a little but it’s one handed with 200 lbs. I don’t think any gym would complain about my deadlifts in the 500- 600+ range.

Yeah trap bar deadlifts are much easier than regular deadlifts (trap bar deadlift 475x8 max barbell deadlift 515) but if I’m getting stronger at them and they really work my upper back why should I drop them? I still have a ton of room to progress. I only do them every 6-8 weeks and I try to do 20 pounds more than I did the previous time.

Honestly I feel there is a reason you never really here people recommend trap bar Dls when youre trying to get your pull higher.

problem with lock out: rack pulls/reverse band dl

problem with initial pull/explosion?:deficit deads

want to train your upper back more?:utilize snatch grip when you are doing romanians (not worth it for reg dl to me if youre trying to up your pull)

basically i am an asshole and take my advice with a grain of salt. Also what works for someone else doesnt mean it will work for you. By all means, if trap bar DL truly is the “best upper back” lift for your body then own those suckers. But if youre doing it for your reg DL than i think its pointless

Do you ever do power cleans or face pulls? Those seem to develop the upper back and rhombus as well

I used to always get bitched at by some fat female employee at the rec center for DLing without shoes on because I “might drop the weight on my feet.” lolll how would you even do that doing deadlift in the conventional style? Dumb.

I do admit I get a little pissed off at the employees who tell me not to drop my weights, make noise or silly things like that when they look like they’ve never worked out in their lives. I really think if you work on the FITNESS floor you should at least be required to workout, jesus. You’re going to make noise when you are lifting heavy things.

I usually just explain myself to the manager later and then I get to do what I want. I’m the only one in there allowed to have a shake throughout my workout, everyone else is only allowed water. HAHHHHHH!
