Bunraku…Sin City style movie with a heavy anime touch. I’m a big Woody Harrelson fan so I gave it a go. Not bad, but you have to be into that sort of thing.

Yes watched this last friday, was surprised myself.

I just watched Moon on Netflix. It’s a 2009 movie so not sure if it’s been mentioned.
Really good.
You just have to get over the Kevin Spacey as the voice of Gerty(the computer) thinking it like 2001(with Hal) because it’s not like 2001.

Moon is a fantastic film. Really opened my eyes to Sam Rockwells talent.

Yep. Funny thing it I kept passing over it on Netflix, glad I finally watched.
I had really thought he’d lost his mind at first, that he was so lonely he made up another person in his head.

Lol, spoiler that you crazy beaver!!! ![]()
But aye, I was the same. I don’t think the marketing of it was particularly huge as it’s such an insular film, but it’s very well worth the watch.

Well I figured since it’s 3 years old that everyone had watched it.
Sorry guys.

I’ve found that most people I’ve mentioned it to were the same in that they’d seen it at the video shop or whatever, looked at it briefly and then put it down again. It doesn’t exactly catch the eye and scream excitement! ![]()

So true, I kept passing over it. The same thing happened with The Assignment a video store clerk had to recommend it first.
The trailer is annoying(maybe because it’s 1997) but the movie was unexpectedly good too.

If Zowie Bowie keeps the standard up, he may take King Nolan’s crown.
The Chick With The Serpent Body Art - Rooney Mara nailed Lisbeth Salander on every level; Daniel Craig was good too, but it wouldn’t have killed him to do a Swedish accent since nearly every other cast member had to (Joely Richardson gets a free pass for her using her native accent as it fits her character).
Apart from the Bond-esque credits sequence and some minor plot changes, you wont get a totally fresh viewing experience if you’ve already seen the original. That can’t be helped when you get two movies based on the same source material (a similar thing happened when I watched REC after seeing Quarantine - it’s like reading every possible spoiler then watching the movie).
I don’t know if it was the script or if the language barrier was broken, but the relationship between Lisbeth and Blomvkist seemed to run deeper in the U.S. version.
Watch this before the Swedish version if you can, then watch the extended Swedish TV version (which has around 45 minutes of extra footage). That’s not to say I think Fincher’s take is superior, just that you won’t experience such a feeling of deja vu.

Interesting and comedic at times. Can’t help but feel sorry for her. The last scene was just kinda fucked up.[/quote]
Yeah I made it 7 seconds into that then saw “the perfect vagina” documentary and got distracted.
EDIT: Four minutes in and I think they’re going to break the record for saying genitals, vagina, fanny etc…
EDIT2: ahhhh man…12 minutes in, tread carefully.

That was actually a good docu.
It’s true about women’s self image. The media and stupid male opinions (like the 2 dumbfuck painters in the film) seem to distort the perception of what’s normal in a woman’s genitalia.
I find the sheer variety of sizes, shapes, and colors of women’s genitals fascinating.

No doubt interesting but that chick was an awful interviewer. Also I completely agree with the sheer variety.

I thought she was quite real… and thus better to approach these women on a tender subject.
Vanity indeed. However, last year on a US news program, young women going for the surgery were saying that their large labia were causing them pain in certain situations (athletics, bike riding, tight pants). I asked my wife about it and she said they were most likely bullshitting just to get sympathy, and all they cared about was how they looked “down there”.
lol yeah and my extra ball sack skin causes me pain when I roll a nut climbing a fence
I guess I just saw her as a bit unprofessional at times…for an interviewer maybe I expected her to be a little more indifferent. I mean I can’t really fault her though it was her documentary. Plus I see your point, those painters couldn’t have approached any of those girls for an interview lol
Haywire, with Gina Carano.
If you expect a fast paced, action packed movie a la Bourne, James Bond, RE or Salt, you’ll be disappointed. Soderbergh went his way to make Haywire, totally different from the aforementioned flicks. There are no music during fights and that, to me, gave a certain realism to the scenes.
Gina is still as hot as ever and though she ain’t a great actress, her fighting skills shine throughout the movie.
SPOILERS!!!-- Loved the part with her, powerful front kicking Fassbender through a door… and her on the bed, on her back, wrapping her legs around his neck and squeezing… super hot… –
The only thing that irked me was her dubbed voice.
