Even More Movies You've Watched This Week

The Conformist (Il conformista), 70s Italian movie. Beautiful story and superb cinematography. The film is just filled with symbols throughout.

Shit, man.

I had a huge blind spot for Nic Cage’s acting quality for the past… 25 years of my life. But, ever since roybot pointed out how irredeemably awful he is, I can’t watch any more of his films without cringing.

I’ve vowed never to watch Con Air again in order to hold on to the fond memories I have of it.
If you can get past how incredibly self-indulgent he is as a performer, then you’ll find him entertaining. I think he needs a strong director or a strong supporting cast to bring out the best in him. He was restrained in Con Air: he didn’t dare fuck around with that supporting cast, and the villain always upstages the hero…good luck in an overact-off against John Malkovich.

Watch that one in peace. He made it personal with Ghost Rider.

Centurion.

This was a great movie, similar to Gladiator but not exactly. Worth watching for sure.
X2. It was a real historical event told as a revenge movie. Michael Fassbender proves his mettle for Magneto.

Neil Marshall would be a great pick to direct Thor 2 after this and The Descent.

“Eden Log”

“When a man named Tolbiac (Clovis Cornillac) awakens to find himself naked, disoriented and trapped somewhere deep underground, he begins an epic journey through a labyrinth of tunnels and dark caverns on his way toward the surface. Pursued by strange digital ghosts and other technological monsters, he uncovers clues to his predicament, which involves a scientific biosphere experiment gone awry.”

Do NOT waste your time watching this. Shitty acting (often poorly overdubbed), little action (although a lot of flickering lights and odd textures/machinery/gimmicky scenery). COULD have been a great film… the concept is strong… but the low budget turned it into 100 minutes of going nowhere.

Nine Queens - award-winning heist movie from Argentina. Two mismatched con artists conspire to sell off a set of counterfeit stamps. But who is fooling who? This would have been up with the best if they had kept the mini con-tricks going - they were just as engaging as the main gambit.

Hahaha!

I’ve actually got this on DVD, in French. I’ve only watched it once so far. I like movies filled with symbolism and metaphors, and abstract and indirect story telling. The premise was definitely engaging, the dark and bleak atmosphere quite mesmerising to me. But I agree it dragged a little bit too much and by the ending, I really din’t give a shit any more.

Slightly disappointing since French cinema is quite good.

Just stumbled across Fight Club on TV.

Forgot how fucking awesome this movie is!

M:I 4

Definitely worth seeing in Imax. The tower scaling scene alone is worth it. Beware if you have a fear of heights; I don’t and I almost got vertigo.

Also worth seeing just for the Dark Knight Rises prologue.

Fuck 3-D. Imax is the way to go for big films.

“The Beaver”

About a family man dealing with his own mental breakdown… begins using a beaver puppet through which he deals with life.

Although IMO Mel Gibson usually over-acts his roles, he was surprisingly good in this funny and poignant film.

Warrior - Its hard not to like movies like these…yeah maybe a bit formulaic and ridiculous but fun, emotional and well acted. Nick Nolte may play the best drunk of all time…probably because its not much of a reach.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Too good.

Also Rooney Mara Ass is too nice.

Red State.

Holy crap…this must win the award for most head shots in one movie.
Thanks for the recommendation. Pretty good watch. Cooper’s voice was the one thing that bothered me at times. The actor was great, but sometimes I just couldn’t understand him lol.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard of this. I’m definitely watching this tomorrow.

Warrior- FUCKING GREAT MOVIE!!! I watched it again the next day. Definitely got the blood pumping. And Jennifer Morrison is skinny but definitely hot.

Southland Tales has been out for a couple of years now.

Columbiana was entertaining. Still bitter about putting Zoe Saldana’s bony ass in the lead. Eat more meat, woman.

I forget what the other one was that I got.

I would take Rooney Mara on as my second wife. I am neither Mormon, nor Muslim.

“ridonkulous” is about right. Makes me more eager to see Haywire with Gina Carano now. She’s got looks, she’s got skills, and she sho 'nuff has meat on them bones!!!

French Cinema is on the up, I would recommend: Mesrine, Pour Elle (Anything for her)

Warrior- Excellent movie

Agree on Saldana, nothing kills a boner more than a fucking boyish bony ass haha

Excellent movie, the male lead actor also appeared in the brilliant “The secret in their eyes”

Highlander- had never seen the whole thing through until the other day
