Even Breathing Feels All Right

Thanks Nadia, I think of you every single time I get on that damn treadmill. I think I’ll increase it to 3/4 mile next week (ooo, impressive)

Alexus, I was shocked honestly. When I got the 45s on the bar it seemed so high.

Brute, I’m looking forward to it, definitely. I’m also glad to see that I did 30 minutes of cardio and benched 125. Did you post what you wish to see me do?

2/18/11
Excellent Squat day. 1x1 50 60 70 80 90 100 110 115 115 115 115 115. I only intended to do 110 but it felt so good I went up. All these reps were good, with depth, no lurching, and I commanded myself.
0.5 mile treadmill.
Speedbag punching

2/19/11
bag work
50 roundhouses
50 backkicks
50 straight punches
2, 3, 3, 2, 2 chinups

2/20/11
bag work
50 roundhouses
50 backkicks
50 straight punches

2/21/11
50 straight punches (at home in the morning)

At gym:
Speedbag between most sets. I am really enjoying this.
Bench 2x5 45 1x1 55 65 75 85 95 95 95 95 85 85 85 85 < not much commanding here.
DB rows 1x1 25 30 40 45 50 55 55 55 55 < I was pretty sure I was ready to go up on these. 1 RM PR
Back extensions 3x5 easy curl bar + 20 < I’m doing these on the preacher curl bench. It looks ridiculous, but it’s all I’ve got. The ROM is pretty limited. I’ve tried hooking my feet under the power line pipe that runs along the wall and doing these on a stability ball too. Maybe good mornings are a better choice??
0.5 mile treadmill.

(at home in the evening)
50 roundhouses
50 backkicks

Breathing does not feel all right but I can tell I’m getting closer. My skin looks all blotchy and I am not as lean as I’d like to be, but I feel bouncier and my mood is much improved. Left elbow feels good. I’m pretty sure impact of the punches keeps the inflammation down. Bench exacerbates it. I will continue to observe this.

Peace and ease to all of you.

Did I miss what the skin issue is about? Allergy?

pch, my skin is a delicate flower that takes offense at the slightest insult.
Eczema and rosacea. The rosacea is what I am watching right now. When I was very lean and training for blackbelt my face was not noticeably red. When it’s bad, people ask me if I have a sunburn.
I don’t think my diet is that different from when I was training hard, so I’m exploring the connection between leanness/cardio and severity. It embarrasses the hell out of me. But I’m not whining, just logging!

ah ha ha!! sorry archane! :D!!! i totally posted my lifting in your log instead of mine!! ha!! sorry!! :{

…had your log open…and i…um.yeah :{

!

Hey Brutus. You can post your bench workouts in my log anytime. Any damn time at all.

Arachne: You wanna practice your meet attempts with commands on Thursday? I won’t be training myself . . .

Brute:  What snapper said. You made me look good.
Snap: yes, please! That’s what I’m looking forward to, along with trying out the singlet. I hear they’re dead sexy.

At home bag work: 50 roundhouses, 50 straight punches (horse stance)

At gym:
Deadlift: 1x1 45 95 115 135 155 175 175 175 175 175 < MUCH better than last week!
Pullthroughs: 3x10 at 90 on the cable rack
Bar-humpy things learned from Kimba: 3x10 175.

Speedbag: 3 minutes earlier in the day, 4 minutes at the end of the workout = about 350 punches. Getting faster. Getting addicted to it. Wish I had one in my office.

Happy lifting.

Sparring (11/100) Kicking, response drills, and sprints. My bear crawl was so embarrassing the instructor made fun of me. I feel fantastic today, confirming my theory that MOVING is critical to my well-being. Pretty sore from deadlifts yesterday, but all soreness is the good kind.

2/23/11
60 straight punches on the heavy bag before breakfast.

You can think of me when you get on the treadmill or you can think of your heart. It is a beautiful muscle and it will reward you for taking the time to specifically train it. Breathing will feel more than all right when your cardio vascular system is well conditioned.

Ah, it is very frustrating when parts don’t behave like they’re supposed to. I’m sure you’ve been through all the possibility, but is it anything you’re putting on you? I was using a face wash for a while that was leaving me dry and prickly, but it still took me ages to figure it out.

wise words Arachne.

Nadia, I know you’re right. I’ll stick to it, I promise.

Main, My life goals are wisdom, and skiing at 90. They both seem pretty far away sometimes.

pch, when it got worse, I am absolutely sure I didn’t change any skin-care or cleaning products. I think it’s improving but today at sparring one of the little girls told me my face was red. Like I didn’t know that…

2/24/10 Squats with Snapper! Yay! Singled up to 125. With full confirmed depth and no “corkscrewing”, I’ll call this my new 1 RM. Failed at 130, but it was more a failure of will and setup than lack of strength. I’m pretty sure I can do with 130. Snap is an awesome coach and helped me with my setup and commands.
We checked out my bench too. Butt came off the bench at 95. I’ll have to be very careful about that.

Then she led me over to the roman chair. I tried everything she suggested but I got nothing. Either this is a myth or there are women out there having more fun than I am. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sparring tonight (12/100). I’m wondering what kind of idiot spars someone really good… without a helmet… when the drill is to practice ax kicks? The kind of idiot with a big bruise on her cheekbone right now.

Happy lifting.

oh I forgot to talk about the singlet. It fit me great and after 5 minutes of feeling self-conscious I totally forgot about it. Reason number three kpsnap is awesome.

Does anyone know if these are legal competition shoes:

They are what I wear when I don’t lift barefoot.

HAHAH! Brute! Too funny.

Arachne - damn woman! You’re freaking killing it in here. Lol @ “bar-humpy things” - sounds like a saturday night misadventure.

And you know I MUST see this singlet.

Those shoes look awesome btw! I can see how they’d be comfy for lifting. I might follow suite and get myself a pair. I’m sure I can get them over in Chinatown. Thanks for that!

Happy lifting (and sparring!) to you!

don’t know about the shoes but I do know I want to be diving at 90 so I totally hear you.

I’m very jealous of your squats-with-snapper. Both that you guys were having so much fun as training buddies and that you got 125 with decent form. YEAH!

There needs to be a singlet picture.

Arachne looks very nice in my singlet. With her permission, I will take a pic next week when I meet with her again.

Sparing redness could just be warmness. Kids say weird things. A little girl once told me I had spent too long tanning. No dear, I’m actually brown.

^I once put my foot in my mouth and told a half indian 7 year old girl that she had a beautiful summer tan. her mother (caucasian) looked at me cross eyed. I had no idea, someone only told me later. yeah, I’m an idiot.

Just checking in to let you all know I’m still here and I am lifting. Suddenly work turned around 180 degrees and I got a new assignment so I’ve been to crazy busy to summarize my workouts here.
I benched Friday, deadlifted Monday, and squatted Wednesday.

I’ll post soon.

Thanks for the update. Glad you’re not letting the uptick in work interfere with your workouts! carry on.
