Snap tells me there is another meet in August, and so I have a new goal. After a lot of reflection, I’m going back on 5/3/1, but I’m choosing one of the high volume accessory versions to combat the problem I had with it the first time around. I started today with the periodization version.
3/14 (happy PI day!)

Alexus, one set! I started with a 10 lb and worked up every day. The 25 was a bitch yesterday. They get me panting and the last ten burn. Imma try 30 today. i really need dynamic motion and I’m too damn lazy to do extended cardio.

Thanks. I was trying to figure out how to do this after I saw the vid BG posted on Veggie’s log using a bench and ball. I was pretty sure that method was going to involve me breaking my front teeth.
Puff, I was doing back extensions on the ball with my feet hooked under an electrical conduit. But I couldn’t add weight that way without risk of bodily harm.
3/17/11 pre-gym report
I don’t mind admitting that I am ridiculously sore from this week’s volume. Those fucking ab wheels have crushed every part of my abs, not just the top ones that get hit by crunches. The leg curls got my hamstrings and something hit my inner thighs too. The only things that don’t hurt are calves, arms, and quads. I’m definitely liking these higher volume assistance lifts. I took yesterday off with only 150 speedbag punches and 10 pushups.
I’m looking forward to bench today, because both snapper and soldog observed at the meet that I drop the weight down way too quick. Snapper told me to think of lowering the weight like coiling a spring. I’m also going to try widening my grip. To do that, I either need a racking/unracking spot, or a piece of plywood under myself, because the bar is too high for me to do it myself with a wide grip. I’ll look into getting the plywood during lunch, since I need it for the squat tomorrow anyway.

Warmup bar 2x5, 1x3
Working 1x5 60, 1x5 65 1x7 70. All these were with a much wider grip than previously. I grasped at the smooth outer rings. I tried putting some oak flooring under my bench but it wasn’t enough, so I commanded one of my minions to spot me.
Lat pulldowns 1x10 90, 4x10 100
Skull crushers 1x10 ez bar, ez+10, ez+20, ez+26 <I don’t know how much that bar weighs.
DB Bench 5x10 15s
Both the last two were pretty comical since my abs are so sore I had to roll on and off the bench sideways.
